“Heaven on the Bayou”
Reviewed September 12, 2011

Amazing little restaurant offering a variety of wonderful small plates and of course full entrees. We each had the special "pick 3 appetizers plus a glass of wine." Each appetizer was a mini-meal in itself - mini because it was just the right size for a genrous appetizer and meal because each was of such high quality we would have gladly had only it! Lovely outdoor deck. Only possible criticism was that the food came slowly - for us hat was perfect because we actually had time to savor each bite and plate. But if you are looking for "fast food" (which you shouldn't be at a place like this) you may want to discuss your choices with the wait-staff

“Nice little place”
Reviewed October 8, 2010

There was a different assortment of food. It was really good. Wish they had a little more in the way of beer selection. Of course you don't necessarily go to a place like this and have beer. The hostess could have been a little more cordial, not the friendliest. The dining room was somewhat loud. A lot of conversation going on in a small space. I recommend requesting a patio table. Overall it was a pleasant dining experience.

“Shhh ... I think it's a secret. But this place has wonderful food!”
Reviewed April 6, 2010

Outstanding food! We had the Shrimp and Crawfish Croquettes appetizer (served with pickled fennel and red onions, with a roasted garlic and balsamic emulsion). The grilled filet mignon was perfectly prepared and very tender. It is served with rosemary steak fries, wilted greens and a Maytag blue cheese and bacon beurre. The spicy tempura fried gulf shrimp tonkatsu with sticky jasmine rice and braised bok choy is another delicious entree selection. Very flavorful. Huge shrimp. We took a cab from the French Quarter and at first had trouble finding a driver that knew where this place was. We also had a long wait for a return cab pick up. Both our cab drivers asked us, "who told you about this place?" Not your typical tourist stop. If you have a car, drive out to Mat and Naddie's. It is well worth it.

“Untapped jewel”
Reviewed August 21, 2009

We ate at Mat and Naddie's last night after a recommendation from a friend. We were not disappointed. We ordered the savory artichoke, sundried tomato cheesecake for an appetizer and it was light and airy and full of flavor. A perfect appetizer that didn't fill you up before your meal. My husband had a fried oyster salad that he said was some of the best friend oysters he had ever had. He also had the shrimp for his meal which was delicious but the sauce had chinese pepper in it and it burned his mouth. He loves spicy food but this was really spicy. I had the filet and it was cooked to medium rare perfection with a wonderful reduction sauce. Dessert is always my favorite part and we shared the chocolate cake which was like a small pie wedge of flourless chocolate cake. It was very dark chocolate, dense but creamy and not too sweet. Perfect with a cup of coffee. The portions were not so huge that you left uncomfortable, but certainly filled you up well. The staff was very attentive. We will definately visit them again on our next trip.

“My new FAVORITE place”
Reviewed June 15, 2009

I love this place. My girlfriend and I like to try a new restaurant at least once or twice a month. We tried it early June '09 for dinner and we've been back since. I had the soup, different both times, and loved it. We had the crab cake appetizer and they were perfect. BUT, best of all, the tuna entree. We both thought it was cooked perfectly and generous portion. When we went back for the second time, we HAD to order it again and it was just as good. SERVICE, the staff is extremely helpful, attentive and courteous. We are planning on going again soon. Almost forgot, fantastic MOJITO's
