“Hidden gem - Jimani's excellent gumbo!”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

We stopped in here by chance on our first night in New Orleans as it was right next to the Marriott where we were staying. Got into NOLA late afternoon after a day of driving so didn't want to walk anywhere. Good thing as we discovered Jimani's amazing chicken, sausage and shrimp gumbo with a dark spicy roux and perfectly cooked rice. The icing on the cake is their amazing break. Really great house salad for only $2.99 too. Really well priced food for the quality.

Amazing selection of beers and a decent margarita for the lady.

You've got to order at the bar, even for food, which takes a bit of time but it's because it's small and always busy for good reason.

This is the place to be to watch sports. A number of HD TVs and good range of sports stations. Even had some hockey playing the first night we went.

We went back for seconds on our last night and didn't regret it. Highly recommended for a casual bar meal with way above average food for the type of place you may think it is.

“Try the steak po' boy!”
Reviewed March 13, 2013

Our hotel recommended this place as good spot to get a late night bite. Great advice! Tried some shrimp pepper poppers that hit the spot, and a juicy steak po' boy that was hard to beat the rest of our trip. Not to mention a very lively atmosphere!

“Free books of matches!”
Reviewed March 8, 2013

Seriously, when was the last time you saw that?? Dropped by for a cold Abita and a sandwich after a long day at the convention center. The food was average, and the place itself is just a little hole in the wall, but everyone I talked to was friendly and helpful. If you're looking for a spot to get away from the crowds for a spell, I'd recommend it.

“Last stand”
Reviewed March 1, 2013

Came here to finish out an all-nighter before packing up my stuff at the hotel and heading home. Decent place to grab one last drink before you head back to your Canal St/CBD hotel. The lady barkeep was friendly enough. Service industry peops came in after finishing their shifts, which is always a good sign.

“Night cap”
Reviewed February 9, 2013 via mobile

Stopped in for a nightcap after heavy eating and imbibing on bourbon street. Beer was cold prices right and the service was great. Was able to sit and relax before the last leg of the walk to the hotel.
