We spent close to a week eating in New Orleans in October 2013 with a group of ten, and this was the worst meal of our visit. It wasn't bad---just mediocre and disappointing.
This restaurant is tired, and seems to be coasting on its reputation. Food was average at best. The service was well-intentioned but sloppy. One of our appetizers was incorrect, and it took 10-15 minutes to bring out the right dish, at which point the rest of the party was finished. From there, it was one small glitch after another. I had the feeling that there was not enough staff to provide the level of service to which they were aspiring.
I had heard a great deal about Susan Spicer, and chose Bayona on that basis. She needs to be paying more attention to this place.
