We chose to celebrate our anniversary with Dinner at August. We did not make reservations as eating at the bar is usually more fun and we couldn't have made a better choice. Danel and Amber were very attentive and informative. The food well…outstanding!!!. We started with apps and the Foie gras and the Gnocchi were worthy of a last supper but we couldn't stop there. We ventured to the Pork Belly and the Sweetbreads and again we didn't leave anything on the plate. As an anniversary treat Danel and Amber also ordered the Lamb entree and what a surprise. Cooked medium rare it was as tender and delicious as I have ever had. From one restauranteur to another "Well Done". Thank you for a wonderful Anniversary. - Peter & Molly Maxwell

Final Restaurant review for New Orleans --- Restaurant August

My appetizer was their Market Vegetable "chop salad" with petite herbs and champagne vinaigrette. It was sublime with mixed colors, flavors, textures, and the dressing was light and perfectly complemented the salad.

Zach had the Handmade Potato Gnocchi tossed with Blue Crab and Black Truffles. No, he didn't let me have a taste. It came in a small bowl, just the right size for an appetizer and he devoured it.

My entree was their Breaded Trout Pontchartrain with Jumbo Shrimp, Wild Mushrooms (earthy and delicious) and Hollandaise Sauce. This was probably the finest seafood dish I have ever had. Just fabulous. The trout was perfectly done, flaky, and mixed with the Hollandaise it was wonderful.

Zach chose their Gulf Grouper, braised with Cedar Key Clams, Creole Shallots, Early Tomatoes, Fennel and Panissa Ligure. No, he didn't share this one either, but loved each and every savory bite.

We were convinced by our wait staff to try their internationally famous Banana Pudding for dessert:
Fried and Sweetened Banana Chunks, Small Cubes of Banana/Nut Bread, Banana/Vanilla Meringue in Triangles, Home Done Banana Pudding, and topped with Dried Peanut Butter. They told us that this dessert has won many awards, and made August the destination restaurant it is today.
Well worth the choice, and well-played by August, well-played.

This was the finest restaurant we visited in New Orleans. The room was terrific, the service unsurpassed, and the food most memorable. Expensive, yes, but worth it. I would urge anyone visiting this foodie city to give it a try.
It is a John Besh restaurant and it is one of 9 of his in the city. Well done.

We went several years back while attending JazzFest. Reservations far ahead of time are a must for any well attended New Orleans event.
The menu was simply gorgeous, with all fresh and locally sourced ingredients. From the appetizers to the dessert, everything was impeccable. The fish was superb as one would expect.
The main dining room is simply spectacular. We sat at a round table beneath a beautiful chandelier and surrounded by polished wood paneling.
Service was excellent, I was only sad that I missed the appearance of Chef Besh that evening.

We plan to return this year during French Quarter Festival and I can't wait to get back.

Lovely restaurant. We thought the dishes were a little rich and sometimes could have been better with fewer ingredients. We loved the egg which was served at the beginning of the meal.

The attention to detail and pace of service was exceptional. We seemed to have our personal "concierge." The menu was creative and very tasty. We could select and combine anything from a variety of offerings. A cab was waiting for us as we paid our reasonable bill.
