“a real taste of New Orleans”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2013

Liuzza's is one of those restaurants where you may see the same people there visit after visit. It has that kind of local feel and loyalty. It is a real neighborhood restaurant that offers New Orleanians a real taste of the city. Service is good, particularly for the price paid, and the food is well worth the price. Liuzza's may well have the best roast beef po-boy in town. Given that the roast beef po-boy is a staple in New Orleans and has been perfected here, that's saying something special.

“Great PoBoys”

Great tiny restaurant off the beaten path. Great service. Get a coors light in a frozen mug! Everything they serve is wonderful!

“Must stop here before Jazz Fest”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2013

The pre-game spot to get a drink before going to Jazz Fest. They have a full bar and make a pretty good Bloody Mary. During Jazz Fest they also have a bar set up outside.

“Italian influences in New Orleans Cuisine”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 8, 2013

This little establishment is one of the more popular places for locals. The food is very good- a mix of Italian and Cajun cuisine, the more of the former. Fair warning, much of the food is fried, especially the appetizers. The fried pickles are great, but quite filling. The gumbo is good, yet I prefer the Shrimp and Artichoke soup which is absolutely delicious. The po-boys are good, but there are better in the city. They are lacking good salads, the best being the shrimp remoulade, whereby the remoulade sauce is excellent, but the salad part could use a bit more variety. Some of their pasta dishes are worth ordering, especially the shrimp and artichoke and the eggplant with shiimp. I am surprised, however, that they no longer offer Crawfish Telemachus, which was rich, decadent and delicious. And they do have some very good specials.
Undoubtedly the ambience is real New Orleans. There are some tourists who have found this restaurant, however for the most part it is filled with locals. It is a bit dingy, but it's New Orleans. The service is great, but as noted by some of the other reviewers, they can get overwhelmed during a full house.
This was one of my favorite restaurants in the city for years, but I do feel that they are slipping slightly as far as the food is concerned. In the past I would have given it an excellent rating. Nevertheless, Liuzza's is worth the trip into Mid City.

“A great local hotspot”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 18, 2013

Liuzza's is a must on our NOLA trips. The gumbo and po-boys are fantastic! The surroundings are laid back and there is a huge local crowd. Don't expect a lot of chit chat with the staff however the food and environment are the reasons we go.....
