“Wow, INCREDIBLE”
Reviewed April 30, 2013

Wow, all I have to say is wow. We went here on a Monday around 11:45AM (right after JazzFest) and had been paddleboarding in the canal that morning--we were starving!
When we arrived (park in the dirt lot across the street, plenty of room), there were about 7-8 groups (2-4 people) waiting to be seated and were concerned, however they said a 15 minute wait and it was less!
When we got inside, it is very acyclic and funky--not a dive just unique. Prices were good between $9-15 for Brunch, there were three of us and we ordered The Crabby Eggs (Special--Crab Cakes with Poached Eggs & Hollandaise w/Grits $14), Eggs Aubergeine (Special--Fried Eggplant, poached eggs and a Mushroom Gravy w/Grits $14) and Shrimp with Tasso (Omelete with Shrimp and Tasso-cured meat, with Onions, Cheese & Hashbrowns $11), plus a side of Praline Bacon ($6). Wow, all of our meals were incredible--the Crabby Eggs were a bit smaller, but definitely filling and delicious, I would HIGHLY recommend the Eggs Aubergeine, eggplant can be finicky and this was INCREDIBLE, the eggplant was lightly breaded and pan fried, perfect moisture and texture. Praline Bacon (house speciality) one side order was MORE than enough for the three of us, very sweet and unique flavor--worth trying.
Service inside was a bit slow and they did mess up our receipt, but were friendly and quick to resolve without any fuss--everybody makes mistakes.
Would highly recommend and will be going back!

Note: They had later hours for JazzFest

Unique, funky, friendly service, outstanding food preparation. This was worth the cab ride from the French quarter. A nice walk during the day.

“best salad I've ever had”
Reviewed April 26, 2013

This is an interesting stroll from the French quarterr if you are heading over before dark-we opted for a cab home. What can I say-last time I was in N.O. I ate here two nights in a row in spite of all the great restaurants in the city. Warm and charming, reasonable prices, nice service and GREAT food. This visit it was just as good.

“Way to Start the Day”
Reviewed April 26, 2013

We walked to Elizabeths for breakfast one morning from the east side of the French Quarter. It was well worth the walk and the walk was a welcome way to start trying to burn some of the calories from the breakfast. Our group had a variety of dishes and each was great and over-eaten! The chicken livers are great and the pepper jelly was quite good with them. It is not the way i normally eat them, but I loved them. The servings are huge! The pralined bacon was good, although sweeter than I expected. Some at the table thought there was too much praline, but others enjoyed it. My partner's omelet was very good and the biscuit also seemed to disappear without complaint. The hash browns were delicious and there was not mistaking them for lo-cal!

This was a great start to the day, but i would recommend doing this on a day when skipping lunch was the plan. There was only one waiter, and it is not a large place, so it is geared to good eating, not fast food. But it is well worth it!
