I am still thinking about this meal!!!! We had the wonderful luck of choosing the hotel next door to this restaurant, Place d' Armes, for a quick stop through NOLA on a road trip. We took a quick spin around the quarter before deciding that Muriel's looked to be the superior choice for dinner, and the pre fixe advertised in the window assured us we would be in a price range we were comfortable with. The atmosphere is perfect, combining French chic with New Orleans charm - dim lighting, intriguing paintings and antiques, simple elegance. My husband and I savored every bite, from the rustic bread and rich butter, to the oyster eggplant soup, seafood bouillabaisse, and butterscotch oreo praline dessert. My son was accommodated as a vegetarian with a simple pasta that he enjoyed. The service was excellent; we were clearly the last table seated before closing, and our food and drink waiters were attentive and professional throughout. We topped off our dinner with a moonlit swim in the gorgeous courtyard back at the hotel. Muriel's will be a must on any future visit to New Orleans!

Excellent waitstaff complement a lovely ambiance and excellent menu choices for their Table D Hote menu. To start, my wife had the tasty Seafood Gumbo and I had the outstanding shrimp and goat cheese crepes. For Entre's, I had the Seafood "Bayoubaise" that had a lovely tarragon enhanced sauce. My wife went with the Pecan Crusted Puppy Drum (gulf fish) which she enjoyed. The recommended pinot noir went extremely well with my choices. For dessert, we shared each others pudding dishes (pecan bread pudding and black bottom butterscotch pudding).

I was there for an event and I loved the ambiance. The location is superbe and food is very nice. The little balconies overlooking the square are beautiful and the food good. There is a table set for the ghost supposedly living in the premises in a corner with a church music in the background.

A trip to New Orleans would not be complete for us without the Muriel's experience. The two of us got one of their 3 course Prix Fixe menus and we got the Vegetable Soirée entree and shared both. The veg plate was not a compromise...an amazingly gourmet experience. If you want a true epicurean meal, without the price tag of the 'famous chef' restaurants, this is your spot.

Was here two years for Jazzfest and have eaten there 4-5 times. The barbecue shrimp are amazing. Get extra bread for the sauce.
