“Our favorite in NOLA!”
Reviewed May 14, 2013

We went to Commander's Palace, Delmonico, and others during our stay, but Muriel's was our favorite! The food was wonderful and the service was excellent! It was very busy, but we were seated on time and it was not too loud at all, and were very relaxed. Did I say the food was wonderful?

“So, so Ordinary”
Reviewed May 14, 2013

A visit for a drink turned into sitting at the bar and looking at the menu. A nice atmosphere with good drinks. Can't say so much for the restaurant. Large seating area and nice appointments, cozy lighting and plenty of waiters. The food was not anything special. We had the crab and crawfish crepes filled with goat cheese. Too rich and only one crawfish and not a noticeable amount of crabmeat. Will not be going back to eat. Drink, maybe.

“Holy Crepe!”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

After going to Paris earlier year and living on Crepes during my visit, I had to stop in Muriel's and try the crawfish and goat cheese crepes. Wow! Amazing! Everyone else raved about their meals as well. Service was top notch! I'll add this place to my regular stops when I'm in town :))

“Cold Food. Cold Service.”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

Muriel's is a beautiful restaurant, right off Jackson Square beside the St. Louis Church. We had a reservation and were quickly shown to a table. The first thing we thought was amiss was that no one came by to greet us and offer us menus for 10 minutes. In that time, we had at least a half dozen staff go by, some with menus. The restaurant was not full so it was not like everyone was busy. When a waiter finally did come by, the first question was what kind of water we wanted. I was already thinking of the menu delay so I asked for menus, thinking that he was going to ask about drinks). What I got was a blank stare and a repeat of the question. So after answering that, off he went and a few minutes later the menus finally came.

This lack of attention continued, another example being when we received our food, it was another 15 minutes until our server came by to ask. We did order the special Filet (at $44) and from the crabcake, asparagus and steak that made up the dish, only the crab cake was warm. The steak was cold, both within and from the sauce on top.

Overall the service was simply cold and unfriendly, not a smile or comment from the staff.

Some points scored from our server bringing us complimentary dessert for the cold steaks but overall, it was quite a disappointment on what was to be a special evening in New Orleans.
