Went with a group of coworkers, we were dressed down but still seated right away. Good neo creole cuisine. Alligator was the only truly subpar thing we tried. Goat cheese creeps were fantastic as was the drum. I would recommend this restaurant over others in the French quarter.

After busy day enjoying the French Quarter and the Garden District, dinner At Muriel's was an enjoyable event. The food was excellent (very upscale newer style cajun/creole) and the service was good. Wine selection was more than adequate, but at the higher end too much for my tastes. We will return when next we visit our honeymoon city, New Orleans.

We just walked in not knowing anything about the place and we were seated right away and the staff was great. The bread they serve was disappointing but oh well then we ordered an appetizer of tomatoes and mozzarella cheese with prosciutto ham on top. The worst tasting prosciutto we had ever tasted. We were certain the meal was going to go down hill from there. My husband ordered BBQ shrimp and I ordered the lamb. Wow was it so good so great. My husband is a very good cook and likes to prepare his own shrimp and he said it was the best shrimp he has ever had at a restaurant. The sauce was amazing. Just needed better bread to sop it up with! My lamb was yummy, picked up those lamb chops and got every bit off the bones. No educate here! We asked for the recipe for the BBQ shrimp and they gave it to us very nice of them. Needless to say we left very happy.

Ordered the Prix Fixe menu for myself, and my husband ordered the Lamb Chops and shared my Shrimp and Goat Cheese Crepes appetizer and Creme Brulee dessert. I had the Gulf Seafood Stew and whenever I think of it, my mouth waters! We are Creme Brulee snobs and have had better, but our friends ordered the Bread Pudding and loved it! Highly recommend this place!

From the moment the maitresse d' took our reservation we should have known that this restaurant had a poblem with 'tourists'. Taking our reservation at 9 pm [our party was arriving latr in town because of flight delays] our credit card details were taken and we were 'warned' that no shows would attract a $25 surcharge PER PERSON [there were 5 of us]. An unusual start to a dining experienec - but evertheless we persevered.

On arrival at 9 we were ushered into the right hand side of the restauarant - a large room with none of the comfort and personality of the well populated [but not full] left hand side. Within 15 minutes the only other diners in the room finished their meals leaving us the only diners in a huge room. This would not have been problematic [although with zero atmosphere] had the waiting staff not started to clear tables and start setting up for breakfasts. When we complained about the noise and rudeness the activity stopped - for 10 minutes abd then started again.

We paid nearly $400 for a meal for 5 - whilst the food may have been good - we were so upset [the meal was the first of 5 friends getting together after a year of not meeting] that we could hardly taste th emeal.

We felt patronised and left feeling like tourists who were not worthy of the hospitality which we have experienced across New Orleans - except for Muriels.

Check before booking where they will seat you and ask what time they start to strip down their rooms whilst diners are still being served. I wish we had and we would be $400 better off - rather than experiencing the worst treatment of our lives. We would not recommend anyone to trust to this restaurant's hospitality.
