Description: Tujague's Restaurant is the second oldest, continually running restaurant in New Orleans. Established in 1856, this French Quarter institution has been serving traditional New Orleans cuisine to locals and visitors alike for more than 160 years. The restaurant began its long history by serving the hungry port workers from the Mississippi riverfront. Lore states that brunch originated here, as did the Grasshopper cocktail. Homages to the restaurant's long and colorful history abound within the interior of the building from the classic 19th century architecture to memorabilia on the walls. The menu features locally sourced ingredients in traditional preparations, melding French traditions with New Orleans fare and flare. Tujague's famous five course menu is still served nightly; but have no fear, the menu is no longer pre-fixe, so those less ravenous diners can join in too. If you want a quintessential New Orleans experience filled with history and local flare, Tujague's is your place.

We went here as part of a walking food tour and they served the brisket PO-boy with horseradish sauce. This was AMAZING-I will literally want to fly 4.5 hours from home to eat this. We also tried their famous original grasshopper drink and it tastes like mint chocolate chip ice cream with a kick. We then shared a sazarac- the official New Orleans drink. You either love it or hate it. We liked it. Sip very slowly- the flavors are intriguing and the alcohol strong. Also-our waitress got an extra large tip. A homeless man came in and asked if he could please have a glass of water ( it was so hot and humid). She kindly and compassionately said, “Of course honey- and go5 him a huge cup with ice and water).

Tujague's has been on Decatur Street for more than a century-and-a-half. The decor is still the same, which is good, but the wait staff is no longer professionals as in days gone by. The food is very good (must have the shrimp remoulade appetizer). Prices are mid-range. This is not a glitzy place but it retains its old-New Orleans vibe and should be on your list if you are dining in N'Awlins more than three nights.

The title says it all. The brisket is what they’re known for. Get it and you won’t be disappointed. The service was slow, but brisket was really really good. Had a grasshopper on the house due to slow service.

It was pretty good, they are known for their brisket, it was good, but I thought it was more like pot roast than brisket.

Very good place to eat and have a private dinner. We had a private room for our dinner. We had wonderful service and the food was outstanding. The staff shared stories and history of the establishment and New Orleans history. It was one of my favorite things we did on our trip!
