On our last day in New Orleans, my wife wanted some gumbo as she hadn't been able to get out into the French Quarter during her business trip. A friend who lives in the Quarter recommended this place and it didn't disappoint.
We arrived on a Tuesday, just before they opened at 11am and just had to wait for a few minutes. We chose to sit inside instead of on the outdoor patio in the muggy, July heat. The staff was very friendly and gave excellent recommendations. Warm, fresh bread was brought immediately. The grilled boudin and chicken and sausage gumbo we had as an appetizer were both excellent! My wife had the special blackened catfish topped with crab cakes and creamy shrimp sauce and that was one of the best things we'd had all week. I ordered the shrimp étouffée and it was fine. However, I realized afterwards that we were just outside of the prime crawfish season so that was understandable...
Definitely worth the stop!
