The Camellia Grill is an Uptown institution. That is why it is sad the place has gotten so bad. We waited forever, as usual. When we finally got in, the food was bad and the service was worse. The waiter forgot parts of our order three times, which took an extra twenty minutes, and did not apologize when he finally brought it. The food was average at best. The chocolate pecan pie a la mode, usually our favorite, was burned and not warm all the way through (how do you do that?). We brought friends here, promising a great meal and we were all disappointed. I will never be back.

Wow! What a meal. We had a chili cheese omelet, the special omelet and a ham and cheese omelet. All three were great, huge and fluffy eggs. And a great value for $30 including toast and beverages. It was worth the wait. Enjoy the streetcar ride and go to the one at the riverbend. Great diner atmosphere with an engaging staff.

First trip to Camelia Grill was the first time I came to New Orleans! Very entertaining, great service, original experience. So much food, not all that healthy if that is what you are looking for but it's awesome and a true southern experience. I have never had such a good omlette in my life! Highly recommend going here! The newer location in the French Quarter is just as good!

If you like great cheap food and lots of it then go to Camellia Grill. The "chefs special" omelette is outrageous...

sitting at a marble counter that snakes around the casual cafe, you see the cooks, food, and workings of the restaurant. the staff make you feel at home with their lively chatter and the comfort food. we had po-boys, red beans & rice, omelettes, and milkshakes. we'll be back again for sure!
