My family and I had brunch on Sunday morning at Commander's Palace and it was wonderful. First, the service from Robert, Erich and others was amazing. They were funny and always prompt with refills, checking on us, catering to the kids' special food requests, etc. Next, the "jazz" part of the "jazz brunch"--the band. A talented trio of jazz musicians working the room, taking requests, and making jokes. It was a nice touch and really added to the atmosphere. Of course, the food! It was delicious and interesting--not ordinary fare that you could get any where--each dish that we had was uniquely Commander's Palace. My Pain Perdue appetizer was fantastic. The only disappointing note was my wife's bread pudding souffle. She was expecting something more and a little special but it turned out to be rather so-so. Not enough to dampen our enthusiasm for Commander's Palace by any means. A great place for special occasions. Be sure to dress up! And take a stroll around the beautiful Garden District neighborhood before or after--Sandra Bullock is a neighbor!
