Thanks to the staff for the attentive service, and thanks to the Chef for a great meal! Our group of 20 guests truly enjoyed our meals, including the accommodations for special diets.

Precursor: This is one of the top restaurants in New Orleans and the World. With that being said, I have to give an honest review of my one experience here. In addition, it was Restaurant Week, so please give them some slack.

My night started with the maitre d' forgetting about us and not getting a table until 10pm, 45 minutes after our reservation. We then probably sat down for another 20 minutes before getting a menu. So we didn't eat until a good bit after 10:00. The place wasn't that crowded, but was extremely noisy on the second level due to a party going on in the next room. We were also seated by the bathroom, which had its own drama. A girl was crying in there on the phone and her date had to go in and get her out. Exciting, but not a great romantic experience.

The food could have saved the day, but what we ordered was nothing special. The best thing we had was the gumbo for an appetizer, which was much better than their famous turtle soup.

So all in all.. on this night the service was below average and the food was simply average. Not quite what we were expecting. But it could have been just an off night for them.

Went to Commanders Palace for a Jazz Brunch with 5 of my girfriends. We sat by a big picture window in the Garden Room. We were greeted & or acknowledge by each & every staff member in the restaurant that we encountered. The food was amazing, the service was timed just right. Had a tour of the kitchen & it is mind blowing how they have everything timed just right & they all work together to make an amazing dining experience. The only thing I would have preferred is a nice grouping of flowers in the center of my table instead of the ballons that they used.

We went there based on other TA reviews. The place looks a bit dated from the outside but is quite elegant inside. Waitstaff are knowledgeable and attentive. We went for lunch and ordered two of the lunch specials that came with soup or salad for a fixed price. I had the mixed meat grill and Commander salad and my partner had the turtle soup and shrimp and grits. The turtle soup--finished at the table with a dash of sherry was delicious. The salad and dressing were great too. The grilled meats were served over a vegetable medley of sorts and tastefully presented and very flavorful. The shrimp and grits were wonderful as well. As you're seated, they bring some small toasts and butter to the table followed by a loaf of hot, flaky bread to accompany the meal. While I had iced tea, hubby indulged and had 3 of the 25 cent melon martinis! We were totally satisfied with our lunch and experience at this restaurant that we'd definitely go there again.
Note: the staff did now mention the 25 cent martinis to us. The martinis are mentioned discretely on the lower portion of the menu. There are 3 martinis to choose from and remarkably they are .25 cents!

Top notch restaurant. Service. Food. Ambience. This place has it all. Been here many times and never get tired of it. Do NOT miss the bread pudding. It is to die for. You have to order when you place your entree order. It's worth it. I could drink the whiskey sauce alone. But don't. Put it on the bread pudding and slip away into a rich delicious heavenly bowl of bliss.
