“Our least favorite”

This was our third restaurant we've eaten in so far in NOLA (Mr. B's Bistro and Bayona were the other two ), but we really did not like Commander's Palace. The first problem was that we were seated in the patio room and the noise level was deafening. The service was adequate. Our starters were fine, but we did not enjoy our fish main courses. The fish was served lukewarm and we found the preparation mediocre for the pricing. In addition, No waiter ever stopped by to ask how our meal was. We would not bother to return...too many other better choices.

“Enjoyable but Pricey”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

It was my birthday--so Comanders Palace gives you a tall chefs hat to put on and three balloons are tied to the table--lovely...

The food was very good--first course I had a salad, then for the entree I had the drumfish which was nicely prepared-although sides were practically non existant. For dessert --three of us shared the souffle bread pudding and the bourbon cake--it was good but not fantastic--and the price was incredibly high. We were three people and had one drink each. The bill was $200.00 without the tip!

Yes, the setting is lovely and the service was actually just ok compared to the service we got at most other restaurants in NOLA. So,although it has been there forever and favored by the upper cruse of New Orleans..I'm a New Yorker and after having spent a week there I was used to the amazing Souther hospitality we got at other places. Don't get me wrong--there were nice but just didnt think the experience was worth the price. The little plate (and I mean little) of garlic bread they give you at the start was delicious--two little half slices per person.....

“Exceptional”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

We did a walking tour of the Garden District and our guide recommended Commanders palace. He didn't think we would get in because we were wearing runners and capri pants and didn't have a reservation. We decided to try anyway. The staff was amazing. Our waiter Argyle provided the best service I have ever received and was very friendly and knowledgable about the menu. I had Turtle soup (first time-fantastic), Shrimp and Grits (Ate every bite!) and Strawberry Shortcake. Even managed one of the 25 cent martinis.
I am a Canadian girl and Grits and turtle soup are not at all familiar to me but Commanders palace really knows how to make all of their dishes.

“Superb lunch deal delivered with aplomb!”
Reviewed February 7, 2013

An iconic restaurant which could have been just another tourist trap however it delivered. A must visit dining venue - book a Garden District tour and then a lunch here for a great day.

A highlight of our visit to New Orleans.
