Where to start. Halloween weekend in NO. Crazy. Just off a little side street is a gem called GW Fins. Great energy, lovely staff and beautiful décor. The food was amazing, to say the least. Managed to wiggle our way into the bar and grabbed two seats as a large dinner wave and big group piled out of the very noisy bar. The bartender was amazing and very welcoming. I had a question on one of the wines by the glass and he gave me a taste. I didn't like it much so he asked what I liked and brought a "spot on" glass. We decided to eat at the bar so cancelled our 9:15 pm reservation. I highly recommend a reservation as the place was packed to the rafters.

We started with watermelon and pork belly's. Hands down my husbands favorite bite of our four days in NO. The pork was seasoned and crusted perfectly. The watermelon sweetness cut the richness of the pork. Amazing fusion dish. Second appetizer were the lobster pot stickers. Little pockets of heaven. The sauce was amazing and the texture and flavor was great. Another winner. Third appetizer was the crab cake. We have travelled quite a bit and are always looking for the next best crab cake.....well, no disappointment here. Light yet big chunks of crab. No mushy like so many are. Perfectly breaded and fried. Super tasty sauces to surround. Again, another winner. Last but not least, the tuna tartare....just ok. Not bad, but not great.

All in all, the great atmosphere, great service and amazing food GW Fins is hands down one of the loveliest restaurants we've had the pleasure of visiting in NO. Enjoy.

“Excellent seafood!!”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

This was the best seafood we had during our trip in New Orleans.
The restaurant is in a very nice old house in the french quarter with high ceilings and a very nice ambiance.
The server did a great job during our dinner.
In general the meal was amazing, the swordfish, the salmon and the scallops, all of them had an excellent flavor. Although be aware that this is more of a fusion place than a typical New Orleans meal. If you are looking for southern flavors, you will find some here. But, if you are looking for seafood in general, this is an amazing place!
Excellent recommendations made by the waiter

“I can see why this is rated #1”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

We were in NOLA for our wedding anniversary and had seen the trip advisor reviews for this restaurant. We walked in the day before our anniversary and I said we had come to NOLA to celebrate and hopefully they had a table for the next evening. They did (thankfully), we made the reservation and left. It was literally about a 30 second conversation. The next night they sat us at a great table, decorated with confetti in the center, had keepsake menus printed with our names and Happy Anniversary, served us a beautiful dessert and made the night so memorable. On top of this, the food was incredible. From the salads to the main course, everything was perfect. If/when I get the chance, I will come back to GW Fins.
