I had BBQ shrimp. My husband had stewed chicken. The sides are delicious! This place has a great vibe!! It's a must for a trip to New Orleans!

Two words...alligator cheesecake. Must order. Rabbit tenderloin...must order. Top it off with the fried roast beef poboy. If you need something lighter, all the fish is amazing.

“Good food! Nice atmosphere!”
Reviewed November 1, 2013

The aligator cheesecake was amazing!! The duck was delicious! The shrimps were a bit to salty for me and not really special. But still, it was worth the wait. We had to wait for 45 minutes, but we drank a mojito and ate the cheesecake at the bar so time was passing quickly.

“Authentic Shrimp Etoufee!”
Reviewed November 1, 2013

Such a great place to eat in New Orleans! Be sure to know that when looking to eat here, this place is NOT located in the French Quarter. It's about 20-25min away in Uptown area of the city. It's a really cool neighborhood restaurant which in a good way allows you to see another part of the city if you are typically the traveler who stays put in the French Quarter.
The food: amazing!
The restaurant itself is super casual and low key so you wouldn't expect this type of quality of food - but as you probably know - some of the best food always comes from those dive type places. This is the same!
We started out with their famous Alligator Cheesecake (not dessert - more like a quiche without the crust). And it was INSANE! Super flavorful and delicious - I wish I knew how to make it!
Then for entree's I had the traditional NOLA Shrimp Etoufee... and it was exactly how it should be! There are not many places in the French Quarter (that i've tried) who have the "traditional" how it should be type etoufee - but Jacques-Imo certainly does! It was buttery, rich, and full of all the right flavors... the only difference to me was that it was much thinner of a sauce that how i've normally had it. It's not thick or heavy. Very light in that aspect. But soooo delicious!
My husband had their special that night - Fried soft shell crab with eggplant and fried green tomatoes. His was equally amazing and he loved every bit of it!

Overall, a wonderful dining experience and I will be sure to visit this place when returning to NOLA next year.
If you are looking for great Cajun/Creole food, this is a excellent choice.

Enjoy!
