“A Magnificent Blend of Old New Orleans in City Park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 13, 2013

This is a great place to have cafe au lait and beignets. It is both charming and picturesque especially at night. Forget Star Bucks experience a real coffee house/cafe for about $5 a head.

It is a safe venue with ample visitors and security so do not be afraid to go there at night. In fact at night it is even more charming. It is also open 24/7.

Only caveats bring cash (no credit cards are accepted) and when crowded (which is often) it will be noisy. However, if you sit outside on the covered porch the noise is not a problem.

“Great experience.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 21, 2013

Coffee and bignets were always a French Quarter experience... until now. Opening in City Park opened more opportunities to enjoy another facet of New Orleans! Sitting amid the oaks and ambiance of this beautiful park has made it the perfect location to enjoy delicious cafe'au lait and the wonderful traditional bignets. Though I grew up in New Orleans, this was a great surprise in a familiar setting. It's definately worth the trip for locals and visitors alike.

“Beignets, cafe aulait, and live oaks!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 9, 2013

Beignets and coffee is a New Orleans tradition whether served in the French Market or New Orleans City Park. This is unique location surrounded by winding lagoons and stately live oak trees. The beignets are great but are delivered to your table without a thick coating of that sinful white powdered sugar. You have to apply your own sugar with shakers found on your table - unless, you have the resourcefulness of my native New Orleans hosts who simply requested a paper bag of powdered sugar from our waiter. He was more than happy to oblige. Drop a warm beignet in the paper bag, shake it vigorously, and presto - out comes a delicious beignet fully coated in thick coating of powdered sugar. Delicious. I'll take an order to go.

“Beignets and Trees”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2013

You can dine either inside or outside on the covered veranda. While the beignets and coffee are the attraction here, they also have a variety of other food including hot dogs and ice cream. It is an old fashioned atmosphere with wait staff dressed period appropriately. Even when the bus tours pull in, there is excellent service with seats available. A small gift shop is on the premises.
