“Ethiopian Cuisine with forks.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

The atmosphere is sparse but clean and the wait staff were very polite and friendly. The food was a wonderful sampling of Ethiopian food. Unlike other Ethiopian restaurants I have been to, They provide you with fork and spoon and large tables had individual plates.
We had two lamb dishes and one vegetarian platter. The cuts of lamb were clean non fatty and tender. The spices and preperation were delicious. We also had the vegetable platter which is served room temperature. It contained grees, lentils (2 ways), carrots, root vegetable, potatoes, beats. All prepared in different ways. It was a neat way to sample ethipian vegetable dishes.
This restuarant is found on Magazine street close to Jackson. It is a revitalized neighborhood steps from the Garden District and on the other side of the warehouse district of New Orleans. For Tourist who are staying in French Quarter area it may be a little bit of a hike, so if you can't walk take a cab. But if you are already visiting the Lower Garden district it would be a great place to stop in.

“Good Ethiopian cuisine (from an Ethiopian)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

We had the lamb wot and the beef tibz and the vegetarian sampler. The injera was great and each vegetarian dish was fantastic; from the beets to the lentils to the gomen (spinach). This from an Ethiopian who cooks her own ingera weekly and keeps her kids fed with Ethiopian cuisine. Definitely returning here when we visit again.

“Fantastic vegetarian plate”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

SO good. My friend and I each ordered the Vegetarian platter, and it couldn't have been better... There were six dishes included on it, and I kept going back and forth over which one I love more. Everything was super fresh, none of it greasy. Highly highly recommended.

“What's a vegetarian to do in NOLA?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

I recommend eating ethnic in NOLA if you are a vegetarian or are simply just over top with shellfish and sausage, as we were after a few days of visiting New Orleans. Found the food good, fresh, and homemade by the wife of the Ethiopian owner. The decor is stark, but the food is super cheap and very tasty. The uptown neighborhood is off the beaten track but yuppified and safe.
