This is by far one of the most beautiful churches I've ever seen. It it is simply breathtaking! The stained glass is probably the most intricate and beautiful I've ever seen and the architecture is superb. If you like beautiful churches, this is one that you cannot pass up!

Immaculate Conception Church in New Orleans, traditionally called "Jesuit on Baronne" is a "must see" church in New Orleans, The church is located at 130 Barrone in the first block off Canal Street. Growing up in New Orleans (years ago before shopping centers), we always went "downtown" to shop and also to make a quick visit to Jesuit. We would go in one door, say a prayer, and go out the other. There is a statue in the back of the church where the foot of the statue is worn down from people visiting the church and rubbing the foot on its way in and out. The church is in a Morrish style with two onion shaped towers outside. Inside a visitor will be astounded by the 24 carat gold plated altar. The visitor should also note the iron pews and other treasures. Another favorite church and "must see" is St Patrick on 724 Camp St. There are many other churches, too numerous to list, here.

On a previous visit to New Orleans, we admired the outside of the Immaculate Conception Jesuit Church as we made our way to the Roosevelt Hotel across the street. This time, we observed others stepping inside, so we checked it out. Inside the front doors, we were amazed at the ornate beauty of the building -- absolutely fabulous! We stayed several minutes just drinking in the beauty of the architecture, woodwork, and stained glass windows. I like the outside of St. Louis Cathedral more, but Immaculate Conception is more beautiful on the inside. While on the business side of Canal Street, give yourself a half hour to appreciate the beauty of two structures -- Immaculate Conception Church and Roosevelt Hotel -- both are fabulous!

We found an AA meeting at this wonderful Church and while waiting for the meeting to get under way sat in the Church with its beautiful Stained Glass Windows and Marble floors and enjoyed the quiet peaceful serenity of sitting there. This has become my new favorite Church and a hidden Gem in NO.
