Came in to check out the decor etc yesterday and stopped to have a glass of wine at the bar. We have been fans of Chef Chris from his Green Goddess days.
The "bartender" Ed turned out to be a part owner of both Serendipity and Bar Tonique on Rampart. Makes his own tonic and simple syrup basis for the drinks, and knows his way around a restaurant as well (used to own Delechaise). Told us the history of the restaurant. We came back today to eat lunch and were not disappointed! (Contrary to their web site which has not yet been updated, they are now open for lunch...)
I had the oyster/shrimp salad (the fried oysters were yummy - served with bacon-wrapped shrimp and pickled radishes), hubby had the Father Pat's grilled cheese (included a "pear schmear" on it). We both had a sauvignon blanc glass of wine which was served generously.
We ended with the "Tribute to Hubig's pie" dessert (made with blood oranges) with dark coffee-press coffee to accompany, and all were absolutely delicious. Waiter was extremely helpful and had his own preferences (love it when a waiter has an opinion!). Can't wait to try Chef Chris's fish tacos served with the dinner menu. Congrats Chef Chris on another winner!
