“Nice enough hotel but still has teething problems”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

Pros:
Good location away from the major hustle and bustle but right on the trolley stop so easy to get around.
New hotel with nice bar and friendly bar staff.
Good decor.
Easy to find.

Cons:
Teething problems in hotel eg we had to move rooms because the "pumps" (I don't know what type) were excessively noisy.
Things like the toilet roll holder was broken, the shower leaked, the bedside light wouldn't work as it could not be plugged in as the headboard covered the socket.
Tissues, tea / coffee were not replenished.
Reception were extremely reluctant to book us a table at a restaurant.
Valet parking $20. We managed 4 days parking on the street with <1 min walk to hotel.

It certainly has the potential to be a very good hotel, it's just not quite there yet!

Room Tip: Consider parking on the street which is free.

We just stayed here over the St Patrick's day weekend and really enoyed the hotel and location. We had a corner room with views up & down St Charles. The bath has a large shower and a nice vanity area. My son & family had a suite which was perfect. It had a small living area and a large bedroom, perfect for a family.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner

I stayed at the hotel the beginning of March celebrating my divorce, was feeling down from the airport to the hotel, and once I enetered the building, This very nice young lady by the name of Alicia (front desk staff) had a smile and orray about herself that just cheered me up. She welcomed me upon checkin and sensed I was in a very bad mood, but promised me before I leave the desk after checkin that i would be smiling, and low and behold 10 minutes after checkin, I forgot what I was angry about. I really appreciate good customer service, and have refered this hotel to some friends and family. Thanks Alicia

If you want to feel like you’re staying in an upscale urban hotel then you need to try Hotel Indigo in New Orleans Garden District. The room has a huge walk-in shower, scrapped hardwood floors, and the most comfortable bed of any hotel I visited in a while!! The food was excellent, with that great Louisiana southern flavor.

Room Tip: If you're there in February during Carnival season, ask for a street side view. Parades roll by...

The most difficult part of writing a review on this particular Hotel Indigo is deciding which part to start with. This very easily could have been a vacation disaster. Long story short, we prepaid for the room but were charged the full rate again at check in. Instead of running our credit card for the $50 incidental hold, the entire vacation was authorized again. This took a very significant portion of our weekend funds – our trip very easily could have gone from playing in the city to staring at the walls of our hotel room.

Enter Alexandra, customer service extraordinaire; our heroine in a Hotel Indigo power suit! This young woman bent over backwards to work with our bank to ensure the funds were released that night. A complimentary bottle of wine and an apology card waited for us upon returning to our room after the situation was resolved. Quite the classy touch!

Erika, the bartender/mixologist, helped us to drink our worries away in the hotel lounge/bar while we waited for the situation to resolve. She kept us entertained and even helped plan our getaway to avoid the “normal” touristy things and live more like a local. I hated to leave without saying goodbye!

Our room was huge compared to previous stays in New Orleans, primarily in the French Quarter / CBD. The bathroom was immaculate and nearly as large as the bedroom area. The décor was definitely New Orleans and lends a jazzy feel throughout the entire hotel. We really felt like we were a home away from home!

As many times as I’ve been to New Orleans I have never stayed in the Garden District. Now that I am a little older, and a bit wiser, it will be my destination of choice when staying in the city. Everyone should do Bourbon Street at least once in his or her life. Once that’s accomplished, I highly recommend this hotel and the surrounding Lower Garden District for your next New Orleans trip.

Thanks for taking the time to review the hotel- and we're so glad you enjoyed your stay! It's great to hear how your billing incident was quickly resolved and our staff went above and beyond to solve the issue-- including a complimentary bottle of wine and a lot of conversation with our amazing bartender Erica of course! We'll also let Alexandra know that she was complimented on Trip Advisor for her front desk wizardry. Thanks again and we hope to see you in the future!

We stayed at this lovely hotel during the weekend leading up to Mardi Gras. The location was fabulous, right on the uptown parade route but in the more family friendly Garden District. We were able to walk to fantastic restaurants as well as utilize room service. The staff was very attentive and helpful (I was traveling alone with small children), and the level of service was outstanding despite the large crowds. Highly recommend!

We stayed in New Orleans the weekend of Feb15 - 18th, 2013. I loved the location of the lower garden district. Hotel is in walking distance of shops and restaurants. Hotel is nice and new, staff is very friendly and helpful. We truly enjoyed our stay, and how close we were to everything downtown New Orleans. Will definitely stay again!
