“Very good food in a city full of choices”
Reviewed April 30, 2014

In my 16th trip to NOLA, all but one during JazzFest, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. We consider ourselves as well-versed in the top shelf food scene in NOLA as many locals. We ate on Jazzfest eve when one might expect slower service, but that was not the case. The food was not the heavy affair found at many NOLA classics.

We ate two nights prior at Revolution, another hotel eatery with high marks. We felt Criollo was better and far less "heavy handed."

It is also located in a hotel, which usually gets a down grade, butt not in NOLA. We have eaten at MILA, Revolution and now here, and all were very good.

My wife and I have become a "two app, one salad or soup, one entree and two desserts" affair when we dine. This has turned out to be the perfect amount of food and variety for us most places, and this was also true here. We ate just enough to both order our own dessert and still have room to enjoy it.

Service was attentive and orderly and the staff actually had fun with each other. We actually enjoyed our "non-captain" helper more than our waiter as he bent over backwards to make us feel at home.

We had a fantastic smoked quail risotto appetizer that worked perfectly together with the mushroom and quail egg. It was a perfect bite every time.

Forager salad was also very good and fresh. Our main course grouper was very good but one salt shaker more and it would have been too salty. Dessert with home made pistachio ice cream and almond "bark" was excellent and one of the best we had over a 6 night stay of fine dining.

This is a great choice for very good food, upscale atmosphere, and the ability to hear music in the background. It is also a great way to start off and then proceed to the bustling Monteleone bars in for an all night affair and up close music experience. We also ate at GW FINS, Peche, Clancy's, Revolution and Bayonna this trip, and this was far better than Bayonna and Revolution and just slightly below the others, all three of which we consider some of the the best eateries in NOLA.

“Excellent Dining Experience”
Reviewed April 30, 2014

I am usually leary of "hotel" restaurants, but the Criollo stands on its own as a fabulous restaurant---in a city that is known for fine dining. Each item is perfectly prepared and the wait staff is well-trained. Beautiful atmosphere and great dining!

“Delightful dinner”
Reviewed April 29, 2014 via mobile

From the appetizer to the main course, outstanding. Nice upscale dinning environment good service.
Three flight soup was nice. Duck breast and swordfish was great. Only remark is their bread was fresh but bland. I love French bread so I missed that with dinner.

“Easy to Get in, in the Big Easy.”
Reviewed April 27, 2014 via mobile

The snapper was fantastic and service was even better. I am always worried when a restaurant cannot fill to capacity but I was glad it was not packed. Believe it or not, I gave them one less point for not enough salt in the crab appetizer . It is a minor detail but a special detail for chefs that one to stand out amongst the rest.

“Best in N.O.”
Reviewed April 24, 2014

Best food we had in N.O. Incredibly fresh. Service was outstanding, if not downright entertaining! Free bottle of house wine with dinner was offered to hotel guests when we were there...
