We were staying in the Monteleone and were given a promotion for a free bottle of wine with dinner, so we decided to try out the restaurant. We were seated at a comfortable table and were introduced to two waiters who would take care of us. The menu was typical to an upper-end creole influenced New Orleans restaurant. As a nice touch, on of our waiters told us that if there was something that we wanted that was not on the menu that the chef would be happy to prepare it for us.
We ordered our free bottle of wine and it was actually a fairly good bottle (not low end.) My wife had a house salad that was not on the menu, it was prepared quite fancy (and for only $6). I had soup, and for our entrees we had swordfish and duck. We shared a decadent chocolate dessert. Our entire bill before tip was only $85. It was one of the best and least expensive meals that we had in New Orleans.
