The food here warrants a full five circle rating, and that is the most important aspect of any restaurant. Several minor irritations did keep this from being a perfect dining experience, and as they say, the devil is in the details. Let's start with the positives: everything we ate was really, really good, from appetizers through dessert. The flavors were interesting and very savory, and everything was cooked perfectly. I will definitely go back to try more items on the menu. However ... at a place like this, you should not have to ask to have your water glass refilled, to get the wine list back because they took it after you ordered a glass of champagne to start with, or to have the waiter not really certain about some of the menu items. Overall, the service was friendly and very good; with a little more attention to the small details, Criollo is ready to step into the pantheon of great New Orleans restaurants. The food is already there.
