It's ok but it doesn't rank in the top parks of the world. Loads of concrete and a tired look to it. Some quite unsavoury characters but it does commemorate a music legend. Probably not worth going out of your way to visit. Sculptures are very good therefore the average rating.

This park is truly a dedication. It is big and has a strongness like the sounds that would come out of the horn when Satchmo would blow. It has a Spirit that you can feel before you even pass the gates. With nothing but the wind you can feel the silent sound of music.

The birthplace of Jazz, where the slaves used to congregate on Sundays for their day off. You might find a free concert at any given weekend, local street bands, and monuments dedicated to the culture of New Orleans. Just across Rampart St. from the famous French Quarter. Take a break from walking and enjoy the great shade from huge live oaks.

The park is larger than I expected, and also much more impressive. A number of statues dot the area (including other local legends, not just Satch), there are some beautiful fountains, walkways, and greenery - a nice detour. They often have concerts and other events here, but even on it's own, it's worth a stroll.
