“Louis Armstrong Park”

Wonderful honor for Louie! The park is quite large featuring the Mahalia Jackson Theatre, a great bronze sculpture of Louie and his horn, and a fine tribute to Big Chief Tootie, who Mardi Gras'd for 50 years in full costume!

“Beautiful historic park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2012

This is a very beautiful park. It has a a really nice statue of Louis Armstrong. There was also a sculpture dedicated to the slaves. There is the area called Congo Square where all the Jazz greats played. It was truly the birthplace of Jazz. It is a must see.

“Not what we expected.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2012

We hadn't been to Congo Square on our previous visit so we went. Confusing on where the actual " Square " was and where the new park joined up. They need more signs. I did not feel safe here. Lots of homeless people hanging out, and hustlers. Young hustlers! The young guys were teenagers who looked to be " cruising " the park. And if you don't know what I'm talking about, stay out of urban areas altogether.
