Reviewed March 7, 2014 via mobile

We made our reservation a year in advance, my husband is Platinum with IHG, and the room was awful and smelled like mold! It was tiny, dirty, and had a view of the 5th floor roof. I suspect the mold had to do with the broken fridge that took two days to fix. We were given towels for 6 days but no room cleaning at all. The second day a housekeeper asked what we wanted, so I asked her to make the bed. She complained, "making beds, that's all I do, over and over". Sorry, but isn't that your job I thought? Never saw a housekeeper again. Breakfast was terrible. The worst thing was having to live in a dirty room, no sheet changes, and indifferent help.

We booked our room a year in advance of Mardi Gras and knowing what parking in New Orleans is like I called the property to make sure we would be able to park. I was told that as a Platinum IHG member that parking would not be a problem and was quoted $15 per day. When we arrived I was informed that parking was $33 a day and that it was full. They then told me I MIGHT find something for $50 a day in a nearby mucnicipal lot and "good luck". This is wholly unacceptable, a hotel should ensure there is sufficient parking for their guests, if they know they will not have sufficient parkeing then they should work with a local provider to have this. To tell any guest let alone one with over 20 years of their highest frequent stay status "good luck" is simply pathetic! We cancelled our reservations on the spot, contacted the IHG club line where they pulled strings for us and got us a superior Hotel Indigo a couple of miles away in the Garden District for the same rate AND they had VALET PARKING for only $20 per day. The hotel Indigo was also better situated on St Charles street (where most of the parades went right by the front door) and during non Mardi Gras weekends is on the trolly line so access to the French Quarter is very easy (even without the trolly a cab was about $10 for 2 people, still way cheaper than "good luck" parking). The employees at the Hotel Indigo were also much more pleasant, friendly, helpful, and caring. COngratulations to the Hotel Indigo staff, you saved IHG one of their most loyal customers, had IHG not been able to remedy this situation I would have moved all the business they had received over the past 2 decades to Hiton Properties; Hotel Indigo restored my faith in IHG. If our experience is typical of the service at Staybridge,IHG should consider removing them from their family of properties.

Room Tip: Easy, go to the Hotel Indigo

This was a last minute booking or 2 nights during Mardi Gras so I can overlook a lot. We ended up with a smoking room (we don't smoke) because that was all that was left. It really didn't smell bad which was a nice surprise. We were on the 18th floor with a good view. Everything was very good except up check in to find NO valet parking... Luckily we were able to park across the street ( for $120!! For 2 days). That is my big complaint, this should have been disclosed when booking the room!! Very poor communication. The room was nice, typical extended stay nothing fancy but comfortable. The room wasn't the cleanest, hair all around and some type of dried substance in the bathroom corner by the tub. Then again it was Mardi Gras and all hotels/ businesses are stretched to the max. I would try again if we came at a different time of year.

Staybridge Suites is a modest hotel property that offers a lot for the price. You get a clean comfortable room, an efficient and very friendly staff, plus a hot breakfast and evening social hour with beer and wine daily. The location is excellent...near enough to walk to the French Quarter and enjoy all it has to offer while being just far enough away to escape the 24/7 Bourbon Street circus. Staybridge Suites is also within easy walking distance to the uptown Trolly (Audubon Zoo and Garden district) and Aquarium. Additionally, it happens to be across the street from Mother's Diner,a Cajun comfort food mecca garaunteed to temporarily suspend any serious dieting intentions. Good stuff indeed. We enjoyed our stay at Staybridge Suites and would return again.

We stayed here for a weekend and were not disappointed. The room was huge and included a king size bed and a kitchen. The hotel was well maintained and the staff were helpful. The hotel was in walking distance of most inner city attractions such as the Aquarium, WWII museum (highly recommend), the French quarter etc.

Stayed for two nights with a bus tour group. Wonderful staff and a nice breakfast. The location was perfect for walking to all the attractions. Pillows on the beds were soft and fluffy. Happy that we did not have to pay for the parking!

Room Tip: We had suite 419 which was very quiet and convenient to the stairwell.
