“THE WORST”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

Moved from first room that had ROACHES and BUGS. Dark, smelly, no air ventilation, cracked tile in shower that had a 3 ft. step over to get in. Asked to be moved to a different room. Not much better (see photos, should have taken photos of 1st room). Had to call the office several time after midnight for noise made from other guest several nights.
Was told owner would be sitting in lounge in a.m. to talk him. He was there each morning reading the paper, ignored us. Tried to make the best of our trip outside this HORROR HOUSE. People we book with would not accommodate us to a better location. Ran into a couple that saw their room and immediately checked out. Another couple that stayed brought Lysol to disinfect their room, that had stayed there before.

Room Tip: Good Luck, maybe you are friends with the owner and can get a better deal.

We booked this place through Interval International as a timeshare trade. It is the second worst trade we've ever made (Poconos being the worst). We are not fussy travelers and realize that the point of traveling is to see the sights not to be in the room/condo but I was incredibly disappointed. Like everyone else mentioned, the bathtub shower is creepy and moldy. The place is super outdated with wood paneling, weird old ugly art and old carpet. Lots of broken and cracked flooring which grossed me out. On the positive, the kitchen was usable (we only used the microwave and glasses for drinks, never cooked there), the exposed brick was charming, high ceilings were nice, beds were comfortable. We faced the courtyard and had lots of light however, I never saw anyone use the courtyard or the pool and as others mentioned the rooftop was closed.
Like any 21st century family we brought electronics, laptops, kindles, Ipods etc. I hid all my electronics but my 13 year old son didn't and his I touch was stolen from our room. The staff is still looking into this but Interval will be made aware of this ASAP.
The owner, an older guy named Tom, would pull up in his FERRARI everyday and sit in the lobby. I have no idea why he sat there but really, a Ferrari? He won't update the hotel/condo, put newer pictures in the rooms, or paint over the marks on the walls or remodel the gross bathrooms but he pulls up in a Ferrari?
The staff was nice, concerned about the theft of the Itouch. We saw familiar faces working everyday and night and that was nice.
There is no parking however you can park for free in the Harrah's parking lot if you play with a Player's Club Card for 30 minutes every 24 hours. The casino is a block away. We aren't gamblers so we would put $5 in a penny slot and play for 30 minutes and leave. No big deal. The location can't be beat so we focused on that positive and had a great time in NOLA. Next time I'll be more selective about my accommodations.

I am normally not a complainer, but this experience warranted a complaint. I don't understand why some people don't tell the truth. Our experience was terrible .There is only one tv in main room. So called master bedroom has no ceiling fan, stuffy, cramped, no windows. Had to leave door open for some circulation. The building as well as hallways and rooms have a mildew musty smell. Had to ask for plug ins. There is a boxed ceiling fan in the closet...When turning down bed top blanket was soiled, and velvet blanket had numerous holes. No room service. When called downstairs was told to bring bedding down for exchange. If you are used to a 3 star or better, do not stay here. I expected charm not dinginess. I called Interval to complain and they passed the buck to Diamond International. I am abhorded that this would be part of their inventory. We tried moving to another location but was stuck because nothing else was availabe because of Essence Festival weekend. We had to either get back on road and drive for hours and lose timeshare points, or drive out of New Orleans area and search for hotel and pay for a week. Oh, I have to mention there is no parking. When asked about parking we were told we can park in Harrah's gararge which is $40.00 per day. The only thing good thing about this hotel is it is located close to everything. I am hoping this honest review will help somebody. I only wish that someone told the truth before we came to this dump when checking reviews.

Room Tip: Choose another location.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and neat everyday. Bathroom was a little "creepy"...huge round tub with mildew in dome above. Great for taking a shower but would never use the whirl-pool tub. Courtyard needed cleaning and roof top patio was closed. Location was great and easy access to all the sites. Great timeshare exchange.

Room Tip: Front lobby does not look appealing but rooms are nice.

The Hotel de L'eau Vive was a neat little place to stay in New Orleans. It was tucked away in the middle of a busy street. You can walk to Canal Street, Street Car, the French Quarter, WWII Museum, etc. Conveniently located, if not the most charming of streets. It had the feel of more of an apartment than a hotel. Exposed brick and high ceilings created an open, urban, lofty feel.
We shared the hotel with another little family and it was room enough for 5 or 6 easily.
The main drawbacks of the hotel were a funky bathroom that was not only oddly designed with a lavender circular tub and domed ceiling had just a bit of unappealing mildew that we could all do without. But, other than that - everything was clean. The kitchen was well stocked. The couches and carpet were not brand new - but were clean and functional.
On the downside, the wireless access code never seemed to work right, parking was an expensive nightmare, and the Fri-Sun "breakfast" was a joke of store bought croissants. Not what I'd like to eat while I'm in this culinary destination city! However, good coffee was always available in the lobby. The pool is tiny, but absolutely authentically adorable for New Orleans. I'd stay there again.

Room Tip: I wouldn't stay in room 201 because of the funky bathroom. I can't attest to the value beca...

This small, boutique hotel was just as I would have expected. Old brick comprised one wall of our two bedroom suite. The carpet was older, and could've used a stretch. The furniture was nice. The bathtub faucet leaked, but quietly, so it wasn't a nuisance. The place showed some wear - scrapes on the wall behind the dinette where the chair had rubbed a number of times, the refrigerator was dented a bit, one of the beds was a bit bouncy if you sat on one side, but overall, not a bad place to stay if you are ok with the charm of an older hotel. Do not expect high class, high priced accomodations here.

One word of caution, if you are at all claustrophobic, or afraid of elevators, make sure they do not give you room 109 or 108. There is an old manual style elevator about 4' x 4' that goes up to those rooms. Otherwise you can climb a spiral staircase up.

As I'm sure everyone mentions, the pool is more of just a dipping pool. Nice to cool off after a hot day of adventuring through NOLA, but certainly no "swimming" can be done. The pool and patio was in nice shape when we were there, albeit smelling like old cigarettes from the smokers. The roof top patio was closed for repair when we were there, so can't comment on that.

The staff were good and the location absolutely perfect for touring the French Quarter and enjoying the late night festivities of Bourbon Street, but that wasn't what was so great about this place... it was the room that really stood out. There were 6 girls travelling together to celebrate a milestone birthday and this amazing 3 bedroom suite allowed us to all be together in the common areas when we wanted to be and our private rooms allowed for peace if we needed it. The room was kept perfectly clean - a real chore considering there were 6 women taking it over. Another nice feature (that if we stayed longer we would have taken advantage of) was the kitchenette. Very convenient for storing left overs from the many fabulous restaurants in the area. This is a very small boutique hotel - there weren't bathrobes or chocolate on the pillow, but if you are looking for a nice clean, spacious and perfect location to walk to the French Quarter, this is it. The price was great too. Now, the bad. The miniature sized pool was broken down (apparently the filter died and they were awaiting parts), but it looked as if there were awaiting parts for a VERY long time. The courtyard around the pool is overgrown and filthy, filthy, filthy... this is definitely something they need to work on, and our room was unfortunately beside the wall where the neighbors were adding on a building, so on the weekdays we were blessed with 7am compressors and banging, but that is just short term until the building is done. Other than those few little things, the place is great.
