We had a few quick days and decided to stay just outside the French Quarter (10 minute walk) in hope of discovering a neighborhood where the locals live. Auld Sweet Olive was just the place. This B&B was quintessential New Orleans...cute, charming, clean, and friendly. There was a nice garden but we enjoyed sitting on the front porch and greeting the neighbors. We cannot say enough about the innkeeper, Jessica, who was an absolute delight.

Our neighborhood, the Faubourg Marigny, is definitely the place to experience how the locals go about life every day. We're with you! The verandah is the best place to eat breakfast, have a cocktail and say hi to neighbors walking by. Thank you for the sweet words and we can't wait to host you again at Sweet Olive!

Our "Group" of friends had reserved every room at Sweet Olive, but one, for the recent pre-Halloween festivities (including the Krewe of Boo parade) this last October. And, we quickly made friends with the couple staying in the other room after trading New Orleans experiences (out on the front porch) with them early in the am. It was great, in the morning we'd meet around the large breakfast table having an amazing home-made breakfast and gearing up for the day's walking adventures (we walked everywhere incl. to the adjoining French Quarter etc). Jessica, our Inn Keeper, was great (even warmly conspiratorial) in providing that cozy B&B experience combined with insider tips and suggestions for experiencing the best of New Orleans. Among other things, you quickly learn that New Orleans is about drinking (at the right pace), but not necessarily getting drunk--some of the better "drinking" tours reflect that NOLA ethos. In the evening (or more likely the early am as mentioned before), we would wind down and relax on the front veranda-like porch. Some of the best food (a New Orleans-style food mall) and entertainment was just a few minutes walk just outside our door--we only Ubered in from and back out to the airport.

You guys were such a blast to host! So glad you were able to catch the Krewe of Boo parade and all of the other pre-Halloween shenanigans that were going on! Please come back soon, for Mardi Gras perhaps? There is so much more to discover in New Orleans!

A real pleasure to stay in the beautiful surroundings of the Auld Sweet Olive. Breakfast in the sunshine in the courtyard was a real treat, and again with a glass of wine at the end of the day!
Amenities, service and attention to detail, as well as the location, make this an ideal place to stay and visit New Orleans.
Jess provides a warm welcome with great tips about the area. Ideal for a solo traveller.

So glad you enjoyed your time with us, Glynis! We have just as many solo travellers as we do couples. We're so glad you love our courtyard as much as we do- so relaxing in the evenings! There is always more to uncover in New Orleans so let us know when you'd like to come back!

My husband and I had an amazing stay at Auld Sweet Olive! The room was clean and quiet, the courtyard and common areas were beautiful and the neighborhood was just the perfect location for us. There are plenty of restaurants and bars in walking distance. The area was very hip but also calm and enjoyable.

Jessica, the Innkeeper, is an absolute asset. She gave us an information sheet upon check in with everything we needed to know. She answered all our questions and is professional yet friendly and approachable.

This was our first time at a bed and breakfast but we are now converts! You certainly cannot get a warm welcome or that great of a breakfast at a hotel!

We're so happy you guys are B&B converts now! You're right - you just can't get the personal touches at a big hotel like you can at a place like Sweet Olive. Glad you enjoyed our breakfasts, as well as dining at Praline Connection just a few blocks away on Frenchmen Street. Thank you so much for the lovely review, Christina. We can't wait to get the chance to host you guys again soon!

The Auld Sweet Olive is in the best neighbourhood. You can't be any closer to the French Quarter without being IN the French Quarter. Food and drinks are nearby. And if you would rather hear the opinion from a local rather than trust a review from a tourist, Jessica the Amazing Innkeeper is who to talk to! You cannot go wrong at the Auld Sweet Olive.
