“Great deli”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2013

old fashioned deli with wide choice of meats and breads. Im a fan of the pastrami and no complaints at all. Go early if you don't want to stand in line for 10-15 minutes just to order. This place is no secret and they have a big following. My favorite deli..

“Excellent choice for lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2013

Stein's Market is a unique place. Traditional Jewish deli selections, combined with local food items. Beverage options are very wide, including a great selection of beers. The servers behind the counter are as interesting as the food, and they provide efficient and friendly service. Try to come when it is less busy, so that they'll have time to advise you about the various options.

“Worth the trip”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2013 via mobile

My lady and i decided to use the St Charles streetcar, go grab lunch, and bring some decent beers back to the room.

It was a little difficult window shopping in two of the main coolers due to the tables being occupied in the vicinity.

Nonetheless, got a pretty decent stash to-go. Placed our sandwich order when we first walked in, which were pretty good. Would definitely go back again, especially given the sorry state of affairs that is the nola microbrew scene.

“Vegetarian options are sub-par”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2013

Stein's offers a pleasant break from the traditional seafood/fried food focus of New Orleans cuisine. That being said, the vegetarian option are few and far between and pretty tasteless. Stein's will satiate your appetite but you can find more interesting options in the area at Juan's Flying Burrito, The Rum House or Magasin.

“Something different in NOLA”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2013

We liked this place as something very different from your usual New Orleans fare. I think the sign says something like "If you want a poboy you came to the wrong place". Great choice of deli sandwiches. Friendly guys serving them who seem to be having fun whilst working and are happy to explain how it works to confused foreigners like us. Shame you can't drink the beer they sell in the store with your sandwich cos the air is powerful and a nice break from the temperature of the Garden District walking tour. I'd go back.
