We got to New Orleans 2 days before our cruise. I wanted to stay in a bed and breakfast and we were impressed. Although the mansion was built approx. 15 years ago, it has the charm of an old historic home. We stayed in the queen dell room, and it was wonderful! The bed was comfy and I loved the furniture. I couldn't get over the cleanliness and the shine of the hardwood floors. Thanks to Sheila and Don for a wonderful stay. We plan on returning!

When we planned our first trip to New Orleans we were advised to stay in the Garden District. We wanted to stay at a B&B to get a true flavor of southern hospitality and we definitely lucked out when we chose to stay at the Hubbard Mansion. The Hubbard Mansion, owned and operated by Mr. Don Hubbard, is a huge homey home that Don and his wife Rose built together filled with antiques, family memorabilia, lots of love and all the comforts of home. Located at 3535 St.Charles Place, the street car is just steps from the front door as well as a Fresh Market food store for your noshing convenience. There is a double decker tour bus stop right next to the Fresh Market food store and we truly recommend buying a two day pass. This will give you a tour of the French Quarter and unlimited on and off riding around the city with a tour guide.
Breakfast is served in the formal dining room every morning between 8:00 and 9:00 with orange juice, cereals, unlimited coffee and teas. Our first meal also included eggs & sausage along with delicious lemon pound cake. Our second breakfast was quiche. Dietary requests are accommodated. Mr Hubbard is quite a conversationalist and joined us every morning with his knowledge and whit. Our rooms were cleaned, beds made and towels replaced while we were at breakfast. There is no need to have a car in town but if you do arrive by car there is ample parking in the back of the mansion. We definitely recommend staying at the Hubbard Mansion and would return to it.

With relatives in New Orleans, we have visited the area many times and stayed in various hotels. The Hubbard Mansion is our new favorite place to stay. It's in the Garden District on St. Charles Avenue just a few steps from a streetcar stop. Restaurants and a coffee house are within walking distance. The neighborhood is beautiful and walkable. The streetcar takes you quickly to and from the French Quarter and downtown.

Our room was very quiet and peaceful. We heard no street noises, no sounds from the plumbing, and no noise from the dining room (which our room was next to). All the furniture and fixtures seemed to be of high quality and workmanship. Everything was perfectly clean and neat. Mr. Hubbard, the host and owner, is warm, friendly, quite-spoken, and an interesting conversationalist. The only reason we would ever stay elsewhere in the future is if the Hubbard Mansion had no available rooms.

We rented out the whole hotel for a bachelorette party over the weekend, and we were NOT welcomed with open arms. This B&B is clearly not interested in big groups, as they didn't know what to do with us and were not accommodating. We told Don and Sheila that we didn't need breakfast or our rooms to be cleaned (which I think is a pretty good deal for them) and we were treated very rudely. We weren't loud and were hardly ever there, but we got an email telling us to be more "lady-like" from the owners. The owner came into the girls rooms without knocking, and the girls killed a cockroach in the apartment in the back. Beautiful property, great location right on the St Charles streetcar, and perfect for couples wanting a night away from Bourbon St. Not good for groups wanting to celebrate a special occasion.

From the moment we entered the Hubbard Mansion we enjoyed a wonderful experience. We were greeted by Don Hubbard who was more than pleased to show us not only our room, but the entire house. The quality of the workmanship from the flooring to the molding to the furniture was outstanding. There was a warmth and a feeling of being "at home" throughout the our 4 night stay. Don's pride in his home is well deserved.

The morning breakfast was perfect for my wife and I - she is a vegetarian and I am vegan. We had a choice of items every morning and it was all deliciously prepared and served. Sheila made sure that we were more than satisfied with our morning breakfast and we were.

Our room was large and furnished with beautiful antiques. The king sized bed was just right as to its comfort. The bedroom and bath room were spotless when we checked in and each day upon our return we found the rooms to be in the same great shape.

The best part of our entire visit to New Orleans was meeting and spending time with Don Hubbard. He made us feel at home the moment we arrived and we had numerous opportunities to just sit and talk to him about his family and our family, about the day's activities and the history of the area. We arrived as strangers, but left as good friends. What more could you ask for? Thanks Don for making our visit to your beautiful home so memorable. We will be back to see you and as I said, you are always welcome at our home.

When we arrived at Hubbard Mansion there was a very warm-heated welcome. We felt like at home. Shelia and Dan are very obliging, friendly hosts. The breakfast is gorgeous and manifold with fresh items every morning. The location is very convenient, the stop of the streetcar ist right in front of the house. The rooms are lovely and spacious with wonderful furnitures. Sitting on the front-porch at sundown is an great event watching the streetcar and the jooging people passing by. The best B&B we have visited ever.
Thanks a lot Shelia and Dan for this memorable stay in your B&B.

Hubbard Mansion is perfectly appointed, immaculately maintained, extremely comfortable, reasonably priced and conveniently located for easy travel to downtown via the Charles Street car line. I let twelve years pass before making my recent return stay at the house and planned too short stays, but each time being a guest of the Hubbard Family was the highlight of my visit to the Crescent City. Don and Shelia are marvelous hosts!
