“Walk up and down and up and down again”
Reviewed November 14, 2012

There are so many interesting shops on this street-- a paper shop that has been in the same family for 6 generations, for example. Lovely restaurants, show shops, a used book store. An alternative walk to going on Bourbon Street which is really a howl in the ear.

“Not as congested as Bourbon St”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

Nice street to take a stroll..A bit different than Bourbon St. All streets are different at different times of the day.

“Galleries and shops galore....”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

After you've made your way up Royal Street, head a block over and come down Chartres St....gallery hop...see the sights...listen to music around Jackson Square...and work your way back to Canal.

“Great boutiques and diners”
Reviewed July 6, 2012

I did enjoy strolling this street and stopping in all the great boutiques and sampling more of New Orleans cuisine! Another great street for shopping and off the beaten Bourbon "stale beer" path!

We stayed right off of Canal and Chartres Street. Make sure you eat at Daisy Dukes for breakfast!
