“A Good Late Lunch on St Charles Ave.”
Reviewed November 30, 2013

After a long walk through the Garden District, we were tired and hungry and ready to eat, but didn't see any restaurants along that part of St. Charles Ave until coming to Superior Seafood. Being from Hawaii and the San Francisco Bay Area, we are all fans of good fish, so decided to give it a try and were not disappointed. Never having had alligator before, we started with the fried alligator appetizer, which was tender, tasty and not at all like chicken! The catfish with crawfish etoufee was traditional and well prepared. My friend loved her fresh grilled trout. I loved the protiferoles for dessert. It was late afternoon, so the place was nearly empty and our waiter, Jolie, was amazingly attentive. He patiently answered all our touristy questions and remembered every detail of our order for four with special requests without taking a single note. He accommodated us with substitutions of ingredients for menu cocktails. He overheard it was my friend's birthday, so surprised him with a festive plate of chocolate cake. We sat by a large window overlooking St. Charles Ave and enjoyed a long and delicious lunch.

“Good stop for before dinner drink and appetizers. ”
Reviewed November 29, 2013 via mobile

While seeing the Garden District we got thirsty and stopped at the Superior seafood. Oysters on the half shell were $8.95 not $7.95 as the trip advisor menu says, and oysters were on the small side. Got the wrong order, but all in all Mimosa and daiquiri were good. I would come back for a second time

“Ok dinner”
Reviewed November 28, 2013 via mobile

There are so many good restaurants in New Orleans, not sure why you want to try average. Went last night to Superior with family back in town for Thanksgiving. Food was ok, but not great. Restaurant was busy, so service was unfortunately suspect. Still waiting for the salad that came with my entree. This is a good location, but I wish it was better.

“Worth the walk!!”
Reviewed November 24, 2013 via mobile

We were staying on the other side of the Garden district and walked several miles around it on our first day in town. We passed this place and looked at the menu but we weren't ready to eat yet so we kept walking. We ended up at Commander's Palace and tried to get a table for lunch but it was 2:30 and they had stopped seating for lunch. So we walked a little over a mile back to Superior and we're sure glad we did. It looked like everything on the menu would have been wonderful but we had the chargrilled oysters and the frozen mimosas so I will recommend those two items whole heartedly. If you don't want to walk. The $1.25 streetcar on St. Charles will take you right to their front door.

“An absolute must when in New Orleans”
Reviewed November 18, 2013

Never having heard of this restaurant before we visited it at random because the street car stopped there. What a lucky break for us! We visited towards the end of the lunch service and the food was extraordinary! Everything was prepared perfectly and presented well. With a couple drinks and tip our lunch for two ran $80 but was well worth it for a rare experience. Our only complaint was that the service was a little slow as they had our server doing several chores related to getting ready for dinner service. She still did good and was very pleasant, she just had too many things to try to do.
