Description: This is famed New Orleans chef Susan Spicer's new restaurant. It is more casual and family oriented than her original, Bayona. The food is just as excellent, but less expensive and formal

we went to this Susan Spicer restaurant the first night of our trip. wanted to be off the beaten path. it was quiet and we could talk and catch up. drinks were great, service was great and the food we very good. we sat in the bar because we are bar people and only had appetizers. next time will get more of a meal because I love her food. will come again when we have more time in New Orleans

Had good expectations for this restaurant, given all the rave reviews, but was a little disappointed by the food & the end cost. Had the oyster bread pudding for appetizer - it was delicious! Oysters were moist, the bread pudding succulent, all very flavorful! The chopped salad was lackluster. Butternut squash prosciutto pizza was okay, a little dry, but I've had better. The mondo burger was pretty good, as one would expect a burger to be, with a good bun, and fries on the side. Two in our party had the flounder with kale & baby potatoes. The kale was a bit too salty, the fish was overcooked & dry, the potatoes were inconsistently cooked. We decided to forgo dessert here & go to elsewhere. I may give Mondo another chance, but I'd rather go to Susan Spicer's other restaurant, Bayona.

Mondo is located in the Lakeview section of New Orleans. This area was under 8 feet of water during Katrina. It has returned to be a vibrant area of New Orleans. Mondo is one of the great restaurants you can find on Harrison Ave. It is casual and cozy but offers a variety of offerings so even our most picky eaters could find something to eat. We were all impressed with the service and never felt rushed. I really enjoyed the evening. I am looking forward to my next visit to New Orleans and Mondo.

I was in New Orleans the day of the Sugar Bowl and didn't want to mess with any traffic or tourists downtown so we chose Mondo in Metarie for lunch. It was a great choice. Mondo is Susan Spicer's less formal restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the Thai inspired meatballs for an appetizer. My father and I both had the house cured pastrami with potato salad and housemade pickles and my mother had the Mondo burger. Everything was served quickly and the portions were perfect if not large. The restaurant is tastefully decorated in warm browns and had a very nice bar as well. It has a neighborhood feel to the restaurant. Mrs. Spicer was in the restaurant that afternoon and even came out to our table and spoke with us. No doubt I will eat here again. The prices were great, the service was great and the food was incredible.

Atmosphere is casual yet feels special. Food is deliciously 'different' without being 'fru-fru' or odd. Entrees are well sized and reasonably priced. Lots of vegetables incorporated throughout menu. Wines primarily from S America, Austalia and S. Africa which I am not as familiar with these. Would have preferred more American or European choices. Desserts delightful
