Description: Tomas Bistro is an upscale restaurant located in one of New Orleans most exciting and fashionable neighborhoods, the Warehouse District. In a city that takes dining so seriously, Tomas Bistro is a local favorite. At Tomas Bistro the food is classic Creole French. This distinctive style originated in the late 1800s when a wave of French immigrants settled in the French Quarter. Forty years later the Creole neighborhood was transformed into an ethnic stronghold of French and Italian cuisine. Tomas Bistro serves the finest in Creole French Cuisine including Cassoulet, Onion Soup and Seafood from the Gulf of Mexico.

“Good food Service a little uneven”
Reviewed June 5, 2014

Tomas is a warehouse district bistro spinoff from Tommy's across the street. It is moderately priced with a nice bistro style decor. It reminds me of the colors of its original restaurant, Irene's Cuisine, although more stylish. Several of tried the fish of the day which was black drum. The fish meunière was good. The wine recommendation by our waiter paired well with fish. Our primary complaint was that on a slow weekday night the service was very slow and not attentive.

“Needs a little work”
Reviewed May 31, 2014

Nice place in general, but it needs work in a couple areas. We visited on a Thursday night and it was fairly quiet. The service was sketchy. Our waiter showed up too soon once we received the menu and wine list, so we asked for a few minutes. He then disappeared for what seemed like 15 minutes, all the while without any beverage except water. Apps were okay, but the entree my wife had was a little over cooked and mine was a bit on the bland side. We decided on splitting a Creme brûlée which was unfortunate since it was way overcooked; so much so that the custard was extremely thick and granular. During our dinner the waiter disappeared again and we had to ask the guy serving water to summon him. The prices weren't bad, but I don't know that we would return. Too many other really good options in close proximity.

“Not Your Typical Bistro!!”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

This place has class. From the contemporary decor, linen table cloth, cozy ambiance, great service, and excellent food. We ordered the BBQ oyster appetizers for a great start. For entrees, we ordered fish and grits and the bouillabaisse Orleans. Again, well prepared and filling. Finally, for dessert, we had the bread pudding. A melt in your mouth treat. The restaurant is a bit pricey but well worth it. The most difficult challenge was finding parking close by; otherwise, it was a great experience.

“Warehouse District fine dining”
Reviewed May 19, 2014

Found a parking spot right across the street on a busy Saturday night. Walked in, sat down but not before personally meeting Tomas and his entire crew. Tomas is a look you in the eye managerial type and that was fine with me. He knew his cuisine was tops and had to be considering the competition within the Warehouse Art District. We sat to water, bread and mixed drinks. I walked around after putting in my order (Veal Tomas). The restaurant has an open courtyard for a few tables and then opens into a huge dining area for special events. The skyline in the center of the room made everything seem perfect. The sun setting made for colors out of a dream. Bathrooms were immaculate and there were enough wait staff that every time my drink was down, another showed up. We all had different meals and shared with each other. I can't pick out a favorite, they all tasted great.

Is there a dress code? Maybe, but I was seated without a coat and noticed others wearing theirs. We're local and will be back, in the summer. Great time, sorry others had problems, we had not one problem or extra wait time on meals.

“Terrible terrible service”
Reviewed May 3, 2014 via mobile

Did an Open Table reservation for a large party. 2 hour wait for our main course. Nonexistent service, couldn't get refills on water, waiter didn't come by for drink refreshes, was like we didn't even exist. I never give a one star, but this was absolutely appalling. They should not accept large reservations via if Open Table of they can't deliver. The food, however, when it eventually arrived, was very good.
