“Awesome Food and Beautiful Space”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

Have enjoyed lunch several times, but had brunch recently and it too was amazing. We had a large group and everyone totally enjoyed what they ordered. If you are a fan of mussels, don't miss them here! Steamed in white wine, garlic and served with the best home fries I've ever had. For appetizers we had the house smoked salmon over greens with poached egg and caper remoulade and the paneed avocado with crawfish remoulade (both are awesome!) Brunch, the crab cake benedict rocks, but save room for the creme brulee (my favorite dessert and one of the best in town.) Service is good and the place - a 100 year old historic church - is divine. There is also a lovely patio (too hot to enjoy in August), but will def go back in the fall. One of the most under appreciated restaurants in NOLA.

“Appetizer Tasting”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

Wanted to go out and just have apps so we started at Redemption. Tried the Cold smoked and paneed soft shell crab which was to die for. the second app was the pan seared fois gras en Brochette, this was pretty good but I found the fois gras had been a bit mauled in appearance.
The service was good, think the ambience was off due to the early time on a Saturday was before the main crowd would gather. These are a bit pricey but they are expensive ingredients.

“Birthday Lunch”
Reviewed August 11, 2013

Took some friends here for lunch to celebrate a birthday. I had heard from collegues that the food was outstanding and they were right. The service is also top-notch. To all those who used to dine there when it was Christian's will be pleasantly surprised as I was that there seem to be less tables then before which makes the restaurant feel more spacious. Loved it!

“Evening to Remember”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

Chef Piccolo (well known around New Orleans) is at the top of his game at this pleasant restaurant in an old church. You could actually take the Canal Street Streetcar to dine here, it is just a block off Canal. For the month of August, local restaurants do a "Coolinary" special. At Redemption, you get three small plates and a glass of house wine for $20.
Shrimp and okra gumbo (good rich shrimp stock), house smoked salmon on a crouton with a caper sauce, mussels done in white wine with fabulous "frites" -- home made shoestring potatoes -- and a home made mayonnaise dip. Or: fried oysters with a sauce, crawfish remoulade, and strips of speckled trout fried and serve with a sauce. Plus good French bread. There were two of us and those were our choices. An incredible meal (and not that small, believe me)
Try this place for your next New Orleans meal and you won't be disappointed. (We also enjoyed music from a good violinist)

“Maybe the best NO restaurant”
Reviewed July 27, 2013

Ignore the negative reviews. If you want real, non-touristy NO cuisine and ambience, come here. It embodies the city, from a down-& out church nearly blown away by Katrina, now redeemed with a dedicated NO chef, to a great local menu. This has to be the best soft-shell crab I've ever had, and enormous to boot. I loved the duck - very creative, and of course duck is usually a tad chewy - not a negative thing. The gulf trout was fantastic. The free & safe parking, quiet neighborhood, and lovely ambience are extra pluses. Easy to get to, right off Canal. Go there!
