We had a great time. Our only complaints were the shower and the heater ( it was unseasonably cold ). Within walking distance to everything in the Quarter and Frenchman' s street (Snug Harbor). The staff was fabulous, couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was good by the few locals and the. Owner, bartender (Renny, a 40+ year employee) was fabulous. We had a great time. Recommend.

It's just a block from Frenchmen and close to everything in the French quarter. What more can you ask for in a hotel in New Orleans. The rooms could be a bit larger and more updated, but that's what gives it the character of a French quarter boutique hotel. Customer service was outstanding.

My partner and I have stayed in the Richelieu several times
on visits to New Orleans.
We return because we love the atmosphere this hotel evokes...
it reeks of old New Orleans, but still offers rooms that are
quite comfortable and clean. We love being able to sit on a
balcony overlooking the streets of this special city and historic
neighborhood; we love that there is parking (for a fee)
available; and we love the staff that has been extremely
friendly and eager to please.
The hotel is also wonderfully located at the quieter end
of the French Quarter, away from the noise and gaudiness
that one finds closer to Canal St.
Unfortunately, the property is not pet-friendly and we now
have to stay elsewhere when we travel with our French
Bulldog, Chanel.
However, when we fly into Louisiana (sans Chanel), we always
look forward to being able to return to this very charming
property.

We booked this hotel two days before travel and it was one of the only hotels in the French Quarter that had a room available. It’s a great value hotel in an excellent location only 5 minutes walk from where everything happens. The walk back from the madness that is the center of the French Quarter through the historic streets was my favorite part (or that may have been due to the wine) You can’t go wrong here. One word of advice, ask not to be located in the old part of the hotel, we were in room 415 which is tiny and so hot I thought we were located on the gates of hell! No self controlled air conditioning so we had the window opens all night. They don’t have many rooms like this (no wonder it was cheap) but don’t let it put you off the hotel, which will delight.

Room Tip: Not room 415, although it does feel haunted
