“Great Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 15, 2013

We stayed here a few nights before a cruise to explore the city. The hotel is newer and the rooms are in great condition and very clean. They're a bit on the small side, but I was pleasantly surprised with a fridge and microwave in the room. I did however, wish there was a safe. I did not visit the pool, but it did not look like anything special. The hotel is only 1-2 blocks from the convention center and very close (walkable) to the cruise ship port. It's also close to the RiverWalk mall. The street it's on is quiet, and has a lot of art galleries nearby so it's quiet for sleeping, but may not be the safest place to walk around at night. I think I was paranoid about crime, since my NOLA guidebook mentioned it on every page. There are some restaurants nearby, but not as many if you're staying closer to the French Quarter. The activities in the French Quarter and along the river are within walking distance as well (for an elderly or disabled person it is not walking distance). They had a great breakfast in the morning, lots of selection, but also with LOTS of people, and it's difficult to find a place to sit. I would stay here again, for the cleaniness, quietness, and proximity to restaurants and entertainment.

As others have said, this hotel is a bit of a walk to the French Quarter. That was ok for us. We found the room to be smaller than other Springhill Suites, but still fine for two. There is no safe in the room, but one is available at the front desk. The pool was outside and not heated and it happened to be cold in NO during our visit. The breakfast meet our needs. I would stay here again when in New Orleans.

Room Tip: Request a higher level floor away from elevator

We stayed three nights at this hotel for my husband's business trip. The kids and I were able to walk 2 blocks to the Children's Museum. We walked one block daily to Subway to grab a quick sandwich. I overheard some people just getting back from a cruise complaining about the taxi charging them so much to bring them just a few blocks to the hotel. I am guessing that the terminals are 2-5 blocks depending on which cruiseline you are using? VERY WALKABLE! Breakfast was good. The noise at night was annoying when you are trying to sleep for work the next morning, but it IS New Orleans! Our room was great, clean, beds were ok (a little too soft for my taste). It IS a large hotel, so it can be tricky to find your room initially. The pool area looked nice and is probably great during warmer months. The hot tub is very big! It has it's own room! The hot tub and exercise room are actually in the building attached to the canopy where you check-in at the front desk. I was really impressed with this hotel since I hadn't been to NO after Katrina. Great way to start my trip and put my mind at ease. Front desk workers were great!

Room Tip: If you need a quiet area you may need to request the rooms that overlook the pool or patio area sinc...

I have stayed here on 2 occasions using my Hilton points. This location is a few blocks west of being an ideal location but the walk is a good one. The service and free breakfast have been great and any issues are taken care of swiftly.

Well done hotel, but it is a hike to the French Quarter. Second visit to N.O., we did see more of the warehouse district and the renovations of the older buildings out in that area. We did have the rude lady one morning at breakfast time, hauling the food away. But the rest of our stay, we had a very nice lady!

Front desk and house keeping were very friendly. Did have a rude lady at the breakfast who took the food away as we were still in line because it was time for breakfast to end. Rooms were fine but not a seperate room really for the bedroom and living space. Only one tv which is in front of the bed so inconvienent for those who are awake earlier and want to sit on the couch. Location would be great if you wanted to be near the convention center however its a 25 min walk to everything else such as burban st and jackson square. Pool is very small but never crowded. Overall our experience was fine for what we needed. Not awful not great.

This property is much like any other Staybridge Suites hotel. I'll go through the good parts first. The room is fine and big enough for a family of 5. The breakfast was also adequate and what you would see in similar hotels. The location is excellent. Close to the cruise terminal (where we were going the next morning), almost exactly 1/2 mile from Harrah's Casino and 1 mile from the beginning of Bourbon Street.

Now the bad - our room was directly across from a bar. Fine, if the windows are fairly sound resistant. They are not. Extremely loud music until 4 in the morning. I could feel every bass beat. Also, the front desk staff was clueless. Given their location, you would expect many cruisers to be staying here (sure seemed like a lot of them in the morning). However, when I asked the front desk where to go for cruises, they had no idea and told me to get a cab. Well, I had walked around the night before and knew the terminal was 2 blocks away. So, we took a chance and walked - down to the terminal area, then a left at the convention center, and a block from there, we had arrived. It was pointless to wait for a cab, and the fact that they had no clue shows absolutely no effort.

I would not stay here again.

Room Tip: Make sure you do not face the bar across the street!!!
