“Most convenient hotel to convention center”
Reviewed October 30, 2010

The location was great as the hotel is only 1 block from the convention center and as a conference exhibitor, I was carrying alot back and forth each day. The staff is friendly, taxis are readily available and the hotel was clean and had a nice lobby. The free wifi in the room worked great too and the bed was comfortable. My only negative is that at night, I would not have been comfortable walking in a 2 block radius around the hotel as it was very deserted and didn't feel safe. I was able to find someone from my company to walk me back to the hotel at night, but as a woman, I would have not wanted to walk those last 2 blocks alone. Once you're on Convention Way, it's busy and feels safe. It's about 5-6 blocks to the riverwalk and the hilton riverside, Harrah's hotel and casino etc where there's more restaurants. I didn't see many restaurants right near the Garden Inn.

They accommodated me on short notice after my reservation at the Canal St. Marriott wasn't honored. Their desk staff is professional and first rate. The king suite was huge and not overpriced. High standard of cleanliness throughout the room and hotel. Away from the madness of Bourbon and Canal Street, but close to the great restaurants and clubs of the Warehouse District and Riverwalk.
It's location one block from the Convention Center was ideal for me. The fresh cooked breakfast is a great way to start a day of business.

This was a nice place overall and I'd recommend it with a few caveats. First, our shower head was taped with electrical tape to the shower pipe- weird.

Also one of the ladies at the front desk didn't seem to be too clued into customer service when she didn't allow us to put a rollaway bed in our room after we had already confirmed it online.

Overall though, service at this place is friendly and helpful and the location is great. This is a good place to stay in New Orleans.

We got a special offer and stayed 4 nights! Perfect. Very comfortable rooms, great service. They got a pool that was really great, though a lot of people weren`using it. Great value for the money we spend. The Hotel is located in a great area, some nice clubs were nearby. We will come again :)!

We are so happy that we stayed at this hotel over other hotels that are closer to the French Quarter. Because our interests were New Orleans cuisine and culture rather than partying, we were thankful that we can get sound sleep after a long day of walking around the city! We also preferred the walk, which is really not bad at all if you are a walker, because after all the yummy food of New Orleans, you can use all the exercise you can get!

Easy check-in. Hotel has an elegant lobby. My impression was that the hotel is very attractive. Everything appears very clean and well cared-for. We had a standard king room. The bed was luxurious. The hotel offered a nice breakfast buffet, but it was not complimentary. Even made to order omelets were included. Free coffee in the lobby in the morning. The outdoor pool is quite small and the whirlpool was not heated the morning we used it. The biggest downside is the expensive parking, but this is an area-wide problem. If there is an alternative to $25 parking we did not find it. Don't forget that they get city and state sales tax on the parking also.

Hotel was decent but is aging badly. The wood accents have all been chipped or broken. Found hair everywhere in the room and stains on the accent pillow. Other than that the staff was very nice and it was a very short walk to the convention center which was a plus. This is not a hotel to stay at if you are wanting to go to the french market or bourbon street as it is a very long walk. If you are staying on the weekend make sure you do not get a room on the side where the club called Generation Hall is.
