“Smokey Bar no food.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2012

Well there a little bar food, but go next door to Mona's and bring in your food, but eat outside if you are smoke sensitive.

“My Favorite Neighborhood Pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2012

Finns has been my favorite neighborhood pub for years- even when I lived in Bywater! It was always worth the trip to Mid-City. Now I only live six blocks away and couldn't be happier. The owners, Stephen and Pauline Patterson, go out of their way to make people feel welcome. The staff is fantastic and the drinks are inexpensive. The ambience is New Orleans/Irish. It feels like the typical New Orleans neighborhood bar, but has Irish memorabilia all over the place. The juke box is second to none and always sets the mood. The weekly pub quiz is packed to the gills and there is no better bar to watch a Saints game (WHO DAT!) or international soccer matches. BooKoo BBQ in the back has a great menu of tasty treats and is worth a visit all by itself! Finns does a lot of fundraisers and really gives back to the community which is why they have so many loyal customers. St. Patrick's Day at Finns is really an experience. Many of the patrons are from Ireland, Scotland, and England with many other countries represented as well. If you are looking for a place to catch a match, have a great pint, mingle with locals and expats and make new friends, look no further than Finn McCools!

“An Irish Pub in New Orleans”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 17, 2012

One doesn’t expect to find an Irish Pub in Mid City, a residential neighborhood, but New Orleans is full of things one does not expect. The staff is friendly, service is very good and the patrons are welcoming to newcomers. Prices are reasonable and tables are both inside and outside – the outside ones allowing for a smoke free environment. There is parking on the well-traveled street the pub is on. The bar was the subject of a bestselling book in the UK and Ireland, Finn McCool’s Football Club by Stephen Rea, which chronicles the pub’s soccer team before and after Hurricane Katrina. Rea, a former reporter for the Sun in the UK, and publicist for Ozzy Osbourne, can often be found at the pub and will be happy to discuss his book. The Pub won the Best Bartender in New Orleans award from 2007-10.

“AWESOME FOOD”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2011

I walked by this place a few days ago, and the smell was incredible, so I had to get their food as soon as possible. It tastes as good as it smells. The Macaroni Cheese Balls are great, and the sauce that comes with them is out of this world. The fries are perfect, and the burger was very good. The kitchen is in a rather small room in the back corner of the bar...very unassuming but incredible. The bar was fun and hopping too, but the food is what will bring us back.
