“Second stay even better than the first”
Reviewed May 5, 2014

You guys. The Best Western Plus in the French Quarter is a terrific place to stay -- just far enough from the French Quarter so you don't have groups of wild drunks keeping you up, and the staff! THE STAFF!!!! I love all of them. We had requested a quiet room (you should do the same with any hotel in New Orleans!), but they were out of the quiet rooms by the time we arrived. But Lawrentay, who is SPECTACULAR, apologized for this, gave us a room that was on the streetside but the noise didn't even bother us -- PLUS he gave us a little reduction in our bill to apologize further. This was the best hotel customer service I've experienced in a long time. Lawrentay and Tim, the night staff, stayed up with us and we all got to know each other, and there is simply no better way to kick off a stay in New Orleans than with the Best Western in the French Quarter. Can't wait to come back!!

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room if you can!

We stayed here for 4 nights on a recent road trip thru the southern states of the US. Location perfect for French Quarter, you are more or less in it! Reception staff very welcoming and helpful. Our room was absolutely fine and the bathroom spotless. We managed to fit a very full trolley plus two adults in lift - no problem! Our room overlooked the courtyard which was lovely. Wifi worked at all times and breakfast good, scrummy scrambled egg but fruit option could have been better.
Just a mention, beware cab drivers outside hotel, we took a cab to the City Park and the driver dropped us off in the middle of nowhere.....took us ages to find our way, it is a very large park!
All in all very good value for money - we loved New Orleans and our stay here.

Room Tip: Courtyard view if possible

We checked into this hotel and were surprised to find the elevator too small for the luggage cart and us. The room was smallish but ok except the street noise was very high. After an enthusiastic welcome by the front desk, all customer service ground to a halt. There was NO internet reception in our street side 2nd floor room and when we asked for help, we were told to call their outside internet provider. REALLY? Since I work remotely I went to the business center to try to access it and no luck. My husband is handicapped and no one offered to assist us while it was clear we needed assistance getting his medical equipment into the tiny elevator. I was very glad to check out.

Room Tip: Ask for a room over the courtyard not the street.

This was a surprising good find. It is on the edge of the French Quarter so you can get to wherever but far enough away so that you aren't dealing with the noise and behaviors of some other parts of the area. Service was excellent and the room decent, not modern but basically clean. Everyone was very responsive to any request. Given the options in the area, I thought this was an excellent deal for the money.

I brought a group of 36 Australian high school students and teachers to New Orleans for 3 nights. Thsi is a very comfortable hotel which was perfect for our needs. The rooms, while not huge, were great for 2 people with comfortable beds and a decent sized TV. Everything was clean and tidy and the staff, particularly the beautiful Gina, were cheerful and quietly efficient. THE BREAKFAST WAS OUTSTANDING and by far the best of the 4 hotels on our tour to New York City, Washington DC, Orlando and New Orleans. Great location right on the edge of the French Quarter but away from the distractions of Bourbon Street. I will definitely stay here whenever I come to this fascinating city

Room Tip: Worth it for the breakfast alone

4 gals shared a room (349) during the first weekend of Jazz Fest. At first I was a bit disconcerted by some negative reviews regarding location & noise. We found the area to be conveniently located with a short walk to the Quarter but far enough away to not be bothered by street noise & the all-night partying.
We were advised to be cautious when walking in the area at night but we hardly encountered any other people on the streets. There aren't a lot of restaurants or many businesses nearby but I expect that is still part of the Katrina hangover so that could change?
The Louis Armstrong park across the street is lovely with architecturally interesting bridges, wonderful landscaping, various sculptures & water features. We saw a couple of people sleeping there but it was mostly families & folks enjoying some shade or having a picnic. My friends were treated to a free concert the day before I arrived by a band that also played at Jazz Fest.
The room was clean with nice linens altho we did have to ask a couple of times for extra towels - then they delivered too many! The hardest thing for us was the small sink area that contained the only mirror.
The Phillips TV didn't work well but we only turned it on to see "The Good Wife" while getting ready to head out for dinner. The volume had to be turned all the way up & sound was still pretty bad. My friends had tried it another time & were challenged finding other stations.
The elevators are small & a bit slow but we took the stairs when necessary. The courtyard is cozy & we enjoyed sitting around the pool to eat breakfast & before heading out for dinner. We met some long-time visitors to the hotel & to JazzFest from as far away as Norway!
The breakfast is adequate...eggs w/bacon or sausage on alternating days, make your own waffles (maybe not every day?), cereal, a bland fruit mix, yogurt, misc bread for toasting, juice, coffee & Tazo teas. It ends at 9:30a & they clean up fast. If you're lucky you can get some coffee.
The lobby/bar area is nice but we didn't spend any time there.
I'd definitely consider staying here again.

Room Tip: 349 was towards the end of the balcony so there were only 1 or 2 rooms past us. We faced into the co...

Thia hotel was nice, but not my favorite, but only because of the location. It is on a busy street and about a few blocks too far. It was clean, the staff was friendly and the free breakfast was a big bonus. I would stay there again.
