“Poor service”
Reviewed June 6, 2014

I must preface this by saying the food was pretty decent. However, the service leaves an insane amount to be desired.

My friend and I decided to try something different while visiting and I had read great reviews about the food here, so we stopped in on May 9th. We were immediately seated in the back of the restaurant, near what appeared to be an unused secondary bar. Our waiter, whose name escapes me, had no problem keeping tabs on the table next to us, however failed to even ask us what we wanted to drink for about 15 minutes. Once our drinks were placed, we waiting another 15 or so to give our food orders.

The food itself seemed to come out pretty quickly, but while we were eating, noticed our waiter standing at the bar with what apparently was a plate of nachos that he screwed up the order for. He just started digging in, right in plain site, without seeming to care about his mistake. A big no no if you ask me.

Lastly, it took another 20 or so minutes after we were obviously done for anyone to notice that we were ready for our check. Eventually another employee stepped in and got it for us.

I'm sure ours isn't indicative of a normal dining experience at Rita's Tequila House, but it was certainly bad enough that we won't be back.

“Great Mexican Dinner in the Courtyard”
Reviewed June 3, 2014

We enjoyed a nice dinner in the quiet courtyard. It was lovely and we went on a Thursday during the happy hour for dogs which was a very cute idea. They provided water for dogs and treats. The tacos were great.

“Awesome surprise!”
Reviewed May 13, 2014 via mobile

We stopped into this place because of the "$2 Tuesday", not expecting much, but were pleasantly surprised. The $2 rum drink was a bit harsh, but the food and service were excellent. They also had some great local craft beers on tap for $2. I would definitely come back.

“mesquite grilled mexican”
Reviewed May 5, 2014

I had the fish tacos and they were great. Also had the cassava fries which were worth the visit all on their own. Lost count of how many tequilas they have available. Courtyard in the back to get away from the crowds on Bourbon St. Well worth the visit
