Food and service were great. Hard to find unless you have the address you could walk right by it several times. Like many terrific NOLA restaurants, it won't get a lot of headlines but it will get a lot of repeat local customers.

“A Mid City Gem”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

We went to Rue 127 with another couple - one was an adventurous eater, the other not so much. The menu is varied enough that everyone was happy.

Chef Ray Gruezke layers flavors in such a manner as to make even comfort food exciting. Our entrees included double cut pork chops over roasted corn coush coush, duck confit, halibut and roast chicken with roasted brussels sprouts and mac & cheese -

cocktails were well crafted - a Vieux Carre was particularly tasty - the wine list has a good assortment of reasonably priced wines available by the glass

this restaurant will be in our regular rotation

“Heaven on a plate”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Each visit to this wonderful little restaurant exceeds the last... understand they were recently included in Eaters' "Top 25 Most Underrated Restaurants in the United States" and I can see why. http://eater.com/archives/2013/03/04/25-of-the-most-underrated-restaurants-in-the-united-states.php

Hubby had the arugula salad which appears to be a new addition - deliciousness on a plate. I had the butter lettuce salad - light, delicate with just the right amount of candied pecans and ricotta. On to the entrees.... hubby had the diver scallops - very yummy though the orange vinaigrette could have been tempered just a tad. The cauliflower and potatoes were perfect. I had the Duck Confit, which was not what I expected. Seems like usually with Duck Confit you get slices of duck breast with sauce and it feels like a rather heavy decadent meal. In this dish, Chef Ray has little chunks of tasty duck breast bites sharing the plate with fingerlings of potatoes, pistachios and resting on a puree of turnips and while incredibly delicious, it's not overpowering. My only complaint is that it was gone before I knew it!

I've been to the lovely establishment several times and usually order the steamed mussels just because it's one of my favorite dishes in any restaurant and their presentation is wonderful, but I've yet to find a dish on the Rue 127 menu that I haven't fallen in love with.

Congrats Chef Ray Gruezke!

“Charming spot”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

Our party of 6 had dinner at Rue 127 a few nights ago and we all loved it -- especially after feeling a bit ripped off at some other more well known spots in town! Since we had a large party, we ordered almost everything on the menu and nothing disappointed. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. Also loved the cocktails!

“Mid-City treasure”
Reviewed May 3, 2013

Rue 127 is located in mid-city New Orleans in a charming little house right on the streetcar line. Good ambience, excellent fresh food, great cocktails and an affordable wine list make this one of my favorite restaurants. The salmon dish is a good choice as is the butter lettuce salad.
