This place is truly amazing! Musicians come from all over to perform on this stage graced with a giant portrait of Professor Longhair...if you come to NOLA or if you are a local be sure to watch their website and go catch a show. Last time I was there Jim Belushi was performing songs from the Rolling Stones!! That's what kind of place this is! All I can say is GO!

This was a must do I read about in a travel book and we were not disappointed. We arrived right at the 5pm opening on Sunday night and were entertained by the fantastic music and dancing. Smitty was a fantastic local ambassador who made everyone feel so welcome and he was full of dance steps to share. The rice and beans served at intermission, by the entertainers wife, were the best we had ever had.

It's a great foundation doing good things. Support the arts! The bartenders were great. There wasn't a bad spot in the house. It's standing room only.

We loved Tipitina's. This is a great venue for brass bands... we saw the Treme Brass Band and The Original Pinettes and both were so much fun. We will return next time we are in New Orleans, for sure!

We went to Tip's on Sunday for the Fais do do which is a traditional Cajan dance. We had caught the band playing at the New Orleans Zydeco festival and really enjoyed seeing them play up close and personal. The weather had turned that day with heavy rains so the crowd was lighter than normal. Even then the southern hospitality was evident. Regulars pulled my hubby and I up and taught us local dances and the two step. Red beans and rice were served as a complimentary "snack" it was more of a small meal since it was cooked with andouille sausage. Wine and beer were very reasonable and we learned that the plastic cup for the wine is referred to as a walking waterford! A fun night and a special memory of our trip.
