“Jazz & Burlesque”
Reviewed May 23, 2011

We went on a Friday night, and they had a jazz band followed by a burleque show. Very fun and entertaining, they drinks are good, a bit overpriced but overall the experience was fantastic! Definitely going back!

“Glen David Andrews - WOW! Followed by Brass - A - Holic.”
Reviewed May 15, 2011

We stopped in at Irvin Mayfield's for a drink on the recommendation of a local. Who is that playing? (Who Dat?)

WOW, it's Glen David Andrews!!! Some of you know him from HBO's Treme.

HOT, HOT Jazz!

Forget about staying on the stage. He's out struttin' between tables, singin' up a storm! Often with this trombone.

Guitar, electric bass and drums drivin' it all along.

Let's just say we stayed for more than one drink. And had to buy the CD. Just had to.

Disappointed, though, that he didn't surf the crowd like he did at the 2010 Jazzfest at Congo Square in NOLA ...check out his website.

Midnight ... Brass - A - Holic took the stage. BRASS, BRASS, BRASS! Sousaphone. (REALLY!) Trombone. Sweet, sweet trumpet. Guitar. Keyboards. Two on percussion.

OK, let's order another round ...

For hot jazz on Bourbon, head for Irvin Mayfield's in the Royal Sonesta.

“Best New Orleans Experience”
Reviewed November 7, 2010

Wife and I spent a three day weekend in NO. Went to Irvin Mayfield's Jazz Playhouse on Friday Night for Burlseque Ballroom featuring Trixie Minx. The atmosphere was very class compared to the commercial chaos just outside the door. Show starts about Midnite, make sure you get there a little early as seating is first come first serve. Jazz quartet was very good. Burlesque performers were professional and exhibited just the right amount of "tease".

“Great music, watch the service”
Reviewed October 19, 2010

We spent a Friday evening at Mayfields enjoying two shows. The music was first rate, just great. The setting is generic hotel modern. We asked for one of the drinks on the Happy Hour menu but were charged full price because the server claimed we had not been clear which brand we wanted. A cheap trick and it soured an otherwise terrific night of music.

“Comfortable place for jazz”
Reviewed October 6, 2010

Had a pleasant time on a Monday night. Could sit comfortably, drink afford ably, and hear good jazz without a cover charge. A fantastic singer was on when we came in but it turned out she was an 'old friend' and just came up to do a few songs. The regular vocalist wasn't nearly as good. I liked the musicians though.
