“Cemetery Tour”

I visited one of the cemeteries on a tour and it was interesting to find out how people are buried. They go through a process when burying people in New Orleans.

“More than just a cemetery tour”
Reviewed June 22, 2013

Our guide provided a very interesting and informative tour of the cemetery as well as a lot of insight about the city and history of New Orleans. The two really go hand in hand due to a lot of historical figures being buried here (and some not). We even got a glimpse of Nicholas Cage's pyramid tomb. I guess he's planning ahead. A great tour and start to our New Orleans trip.

“Informative Tour”
Reviewed June 18, 2013

We did the St. Louis #1 tour with Save our Cemeteries, and we really enjoyed it! It was very interesting, and it was a nice touch to receive paper fans at the outset, as these were desperately needed once we got out in the sweltering sun. This is not a tour full of entertaining myths and showmanship and as a result, the kids in our tour group seemed really bored. However, I liked that this tour was very fact-based, as it seems that some of the other tour operators focus more on sensationalism and made-up stories. I felt that this was a good value for our money.

“My #1 recommendation for visitors”
Reviewed June 18, 2013

I am a local, but this group gives the best tours! You won't find cemeteries like ours anywhere else. I've been on several tours and attended a few workshops, just because I think it's interesting. My favorite is the Lafayette Cemetery/Garden District tour. Just make sure you book with this group. They do a lot of preservation and maintenance work in our city. Have fun!

“exceptional tour, exceptional guide - Valentine Connolly”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

We toured Old Lafayette No. 1 on the morning of May 6... a unique site in an incomparable city. And while browsing the place with no direction would have been amply wonderful, the experience of tagging along with a brilliant guide added profound depth, breadth, & detail to the venture. Val Connolly's mastery of the cultural, historical, biographical, artistic and architectural material is profound and as impressive as his wit, patience and story-telling. We were fascinated, entranced. Thanks Save Our Cemeteries, thanks Val.
