The Green Goddess was a delicious escape from the many not-so-healthy, rarely vegetarian options in New Orleans. Tucked away from the busy streets, this little cafe provided so many options for the vegetarians and meat eaters alike in our group. We really enjoyed the sweet potato biscuits with mushroom gravy and manchego truffle grits. Yum! Also good was the Caramelized Heirloom Tomato Salad. So glad to know this little gem exists just around the corner from all things French Quarter!

I'm a vegetarian and my husband is a ravenous carnivore....which sometimes makes choosing a restaurant difficult. We went to the Green Goddess after reading positive reviews and we were not disappointed! The food was deliciously fresh tasting. We had the chef chosen cheese platter, I had the vegetarian special (tofu, glass noodles and salad) and my husband had the broiled tilapia. We both loved our meals, the waitress had perfect timing and her service made our experience there so wonderful. One of our best nights in NOLA!

Stopped here for a Saturday dinner because it was just close enough to hear the parades on Bourbon Street, but far enough away from the revelry. Unique, delicious menu items, great service, and fabulous desserts.

The sweet potato bisque was oh so very good, wanted to luck the bowl clean. Also an A+ Bloody Mary, wife said the best she has ever had. My favorite meal in New Orleans!

To say a restaurant is "great" in New Orleans...well, in a city known for its food and love of food, you need to provide a bit more detail.

First off...Vegetarians will have a hard time finding a place completely dedicated to your diet choice. So, "vegetarian-friendly" is the best you can do.

Green Goddess, in an alley behind Royal Street, is a gem, and is "VF". There is very limited seating inside, but on a nice day, dining al fresco is a wonderful option.

We showed up for lunch, and had the rolled utapam (excellent) and shared a the Notorious Bacon Sundae for dessert (w/o bacon). Wow.

As we searched for a place the same day to have dinner, we again wandered back for another meal, got lucky in getting a table (they were busy) and I sat down for the Fish Bertrand while my wife had the veggie special...Again, wonderful.

Service was great, and the bartender was very helpful in recommending cocktails.

We plan on making this our "go-to" place whenever we travel back.
