Description: Galvez Restaurant has the privilege of occupying one the most beloved venue spaces in the French Quarter. Many generations of New Orleanians have shared wonderful memories within the walls of this beautiful venue. Galvez is committed to honoring those wonderful memories, and to creating many more to come. We are the French Quarter's best Riverfront dining venue featuring continental Spanish, French, and Creole cuisine with an outstanding array of mouth-watering tapas. Whether it is for a special celebratory dinner, or a Sunday afternoon brunch, the simple and honest flavor of our food will keep you coming back for more. Looking for the perfect accompaniment for your meal? Our full service bar boasts a complete array of specialty cocktails, most notably Chef Laura's Home Made Sangria. And did we mention that we have the prettiest dining room in the city? The Casa Roja overlooks the beautiful, moon lit Mississippi River. Our lover's corner, a lush and quiet corner with access to a small private balcony, is a perfect spot for anniversaries, romantic dinner dates, and wedding proposals. In essence, Galvez is the perfect choice for a romantic dinner for two, a relaxing brunch, or sharing a table full of tapas, family-style.

“Great Food, Great View!”
Reviewed October 14, 2012

I took my wife for our "first date" anniversary to Galvez. We had heard from other friends that the food was only surpassed by the view. Well for us, both were excellent!

We let the restaurant know that this was a something of a special occasion and they sat us at the best seat in the house. But from my observations, there are plenty of tables with an excellent view of the river and city.

As for the food, it was awesome! She had the Manchego Bombas and the Paella de Mariscos and I had the seafood gumbo and the Vieras al Albarino. All were excellent!

For us, it was a totally wonderful dining experience and one that we hope to do again.

“Come for the view ... stay for the food”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

Excellent Spanish restaurant with multiple paella offerings and a well-crafted tapas list as well as remarkable entrees. The specialty cocktails leave a bit to be desired but the wine list more than compensates.

“wonderful getaway for tapas”
Reviewed August 2, 2012

It was pretty quiet on a Sunday evening, but the restaurant is a bit hidden so that's maybe to be expected. A great respite from the crowds on the streets. Nice and cool with great views of The Mississippi. Friendly, attentive staff.

“Walk in on 4th”
Reviewed July 14, 2012

We were pleasantly surprised on the early evening on July 4th to be able to get a table overlooking the river. It was booked for later but the General Manager Aaron Angelo was insistant on getting us in before the crowd arrived for the fireworks. It was a prix fixe dinner that was tourist and 4th of July priced but very well done and delicious. The salmon ceviche was great. Server was Seamus who provided outstanding service. Thanks to all for a great but short evening.

“An Oasis”
Reviewed June 28, 2012

We stopped in this restaurant unexpectedly, looking for a place to eat and get out of the heat. It was delicious! The restaurant was off the beaten path and was quiet and peaceful. We didn't feel rushed at all and the waiters were very nice. The restuarant wasn't crowded and we had a window table overlooking the river and watched the barges during lunch.

I was there with my husband and two teenage boys. We ending up waling in on a 3-course Sunday Brunch - appetizer, entree, and dessert. All was very good.
