“Awesome”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

This is a HUGE cemetery!! It is just breath-taking to see the size of it. The buriels are all above ground because of the sea level. I would love to have days to walk through and look all of the dates. There's so many beautiful monuments.

“A true final resting place”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

The Metairie is the largest cemetery in New Orleans, and is worth a trip up the Canal Street Trolley to walk through. The main office has a few maps of the more interesting tombs, and is worth the stop to know where you are going and what there is to see. The "weeping angel" tomb is especially worth viewing. One could easily spend hours walking among the different tombs, and each is beautiful in its own right.

“Unique!”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

This is strictly New Orleans style. Everyone is buried above ground. The crypts are of all different designs. It gives you an eery feeling. Something to see of great interest.

“Great City of the Dead”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

Fantastic tombs can be found here. Tour it yourself, or get a guided tour but this is a must see for those interested in cemeteries, tombs or history in general.
